Will be installing a Dana 60 in a 70 Challenger with a 4 speed. Will be either a Moser Dana 60 or the Strange S60. Of the two rear ends, which one more resembles the original Mopar Dana 60? Which is the better of the two? Thanks.

They both look pretty much the same but I like the S60 better from a service standpoint because gear changes are easier twocents

Mopar used "Dana" parts to build them. You can get one out of a scrap yard and have it made to your specs.

Here's a S 60 and the factory dana it replaced. Dr. Diff said it can handle 1000 HP were he said the track loc it replaced was only safe for about 400. The old one was a 71 B body dana which are the longest made for mopar and are rare. I sold it to a member for his 71 hemi charger and used the money to buy what Cass suggested. It's wonderful on the street. Under the car I don't think anyone would notice the difference.

Don't forget that some Sweptline 1/2 tons also had Dana 60 diff, if ordered with sure grip. These had 5 on 4 1/2" axles, not sure on the width. F100's from
~64 t0 72 also had them as an option. Put one under my 66 after hurting 3 9" diffs. About 30 years ago, saw a 68 D100 with a /6, 4 speed with a Dana 4:88.
That would be fun up to 30 MPH.

And what sweptline trucks would these be? I believe you are confused and calling a 9 1/4 a Dana.

Thanks for the pictures. Subtle difference between the housings. I’ll give Dr. Diff a call. The problem I have with the truck Dana is the lack of the mounting boss for the pinion snubber. I have time to search for an original Dana 60 but they are hard to find.

Another vote for Cass (Dr Diff). He always does a great job with his products. Too bad he don’t come out to the Spring Fling in CA anymore. He always had good stuff and I’m kinda cheap for forking out for shipping. 🤣

If using a stock style cover, there's really not much different looking on either the Strange S60 or the Moser M60. Unless you crawled under the car and got your face right up to it, I don't think you'd notice anything.

I'd go w/ the Strange S60 simply b/c it has the side adjusters that makes life much easier when setting up the gear. The Moser M60 doesn't have that, but is still a great rear. I've had an M60 under my cuda since 2003 or 2004. up
