Anyone have any experience good or bad with the "stealth LAX " indy heads ?? Trying to decide if I should go the new route as opposed to trying to rebuild a pair of old X heads and just wondering what the membership thinks ?? Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks Bennoel

Heard they were great. You won't be buying them new though. Out of production for a number of years now. If you look at Indy's webpage information it is almost a decade out of date. I emailed them last year and a few months ago as follow up and there was no plan to produce more. I've heard people say the new owners of Indy are a big improvement over previous ownership, sucks they can't be bothered to update or take down such out of date info on their site.

I assume we're talking SB ?
Maybe 20 years ago - maybe more - Indy bought Batten, who was making an aluminum W2 head - mine flowed 320+ CFM on intake side, and IIRC 248 exhaust.
But Batten had a weird valve guide setup, which Indy told me at the time they fixed/updated.
At the time, they had a stock of the Batten guides to service the heads in customers' hands.
I would think there's a good market for a stock-appearing, high-flow SB head.

And the LA-X and MA-X heads OP was asking about (yes small block) were actually an RHS product. From my memory, Indy bought exclusive distribution rights. If they aren't going to have more made, they should just let RHS make them available on their own again. They definitely got good reviews when they were available.

Yes I'm looking for an alternative to restoring a pair of small block X heads. Problem is I don't like the look of the aluminum slab on the block and that's why the indy "stealth" LA X heads caught my eye. Looking more for a resto look than performance. Some have recommended "new" heads because of saving $$$ vs old expensive rebuilt heads. Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks to all
Bennoel

I say re do the x heads. I like to guide them down to 11/32 and get budget Chevy 2.02 or 2.05 and 1.60 +.100 valves.
