I'm thinking about finding and buying a used 6.4 stick shift motor out of a wreck truck, how much torque and HP do they make stock, not a special order version tsk if they made them confused
I have 1967 Satellite two door hardtop that was strip by a junkyard of the drivetrain, front group and interior including the dash so I'm thinking it will make a good car for learning about the new hemi motors with a single carb on it for bracket racing luck help
I may consider trying to use the stock fuel injection on it if I can find a kit to convert it to an easy to use ECU kit that won't break my bank funds luck
All help and any comments on these motors and my intend use appreciated, THANKS in advance up
Cab
I Google those pickup motors and saw that the 2021 pick up motors are suppose to have 410 HP with 429 Ft. Lbs. torque, I didn't think to write the RPM down for either one blush shruggy
That should work okay to start with, learn first and then try hopping it up wrench devil

Cab I have looked at doing a hemi swap many times. You are in for at least 2k just for manifold/carb/ignition or a/m holley set up to run factory fuel ignition.

If it is a newer engine with the active runner intake you would be giving up too much power to go to a carb set up imo.

There is nothing cheap about a hemi retrofit. If and when Holley comes out with a controller that will handle the 8spd trans as well then I will likely take the plunge.

Yes they do and their instructions are very vague to say the least! They expect you to be a tuner if you buy this. Edelbrock has a system that is a little better for the engine side than Holley. Pro Flo 4 Plus, it does not control MDS but does variable valve timing and short runner intake and alternator control.I have the Edelbrock on a 2017 5.7 in a 1968 D 100 SWB and it will will flat run !

I am curious why your opinion of the Pro Flo Plus is better than the Holley. Holley does have a controller for the 46RE trans. It does not handle the alternator as you mentioned. I have the Pro Flo 4 on a 390 stroker and had quite a few problems getting it running. Ultimately they replaced all 8 injectors after making me jump through lots of their suggestions. I realized it was an injector issue when she would fire briefly after pouring fuel into the throttle body, Their techs wouldn't believe this was the case. I have had a few other issues that kept me from using Edelbrock for my 6.4 Hemi swap. I went with the Holley as they have nearly all supporing parts for the swap (B body wagon). This tells me Holley has invested significantly more than Edelbrock. The alternator issue however, is annoying but not insurmountable.

No stick shift 6.4s that I am aware of. That said why would it matter?

410 HP bone stock, put in good headers when you do a swap and tune whatever system you run to control it and you should make minimum 450 HP unless you go to a very crappy intake like the low rise mopar single plane.

Whatever controls your existing alternator will control the factory one on the hemi, it is just a denso and the field is manipulated just like it was in the old cars to maintain a certain voltage. Yes it would be nice to have it all in one but it is not a big deal.

They do but it is a cool grand. Not going to pay that on top of the cost of the Holley Term X or other a/m hemi control. Maybe someone will come out with a simple swap using factory computers soon that doesn't cost and arm and a leg.

Came across this older article on the Motor Trend site. Gives a pretty good explanation on the 6.4 truck motor and how to make power for a swap.

Update, my wife died Friday morning after fighting lung cancer for the last three years, may she now rest in peace bowwhiney
I'll probably start looking next week for a core motor after her funeral luck
I'm hoping that by keeping busy on projects I won't focus as much on her being gone luck

Aren't they same 6.4, different exhaust manifolds? I believe that's the case on the 5.7 truck versus cars.
