I'm in the process of planning on what race parts to use on my new (new build) no prep heads up race car, I've always used the biggest RV-deep cycle marine batteries I could fit in the cars.in the past but now with the lighter weight Lithium racing batteries I'm thinking about using them confused
Anyone using them on here? help
If so what brand and size did you buy and how do you like it?
The main reason I'm asking is I bought two new AGM batteries several years back for the old race car and they didn't last long and made me really regret trying them down
All help and all comments appreciated help bow up

I put a single 16 volt XS battery in to replace 2 AGM 12volt batteries. Best thing I ever did. Starts way better. Will go rounds without charging if needed.

Agreed with Doug. 16 volt XS battery D1600 model. Well worth the upgrade. With the right alternator, you won't have to charge in between rounds, at least I don't.

Since I have never used a 16 volt battery , does the charging change as far as charger ? Required new machine ? Gary

Will need to replace my 2 - 12 volt in next year or so .

Cab, as you know weight is everything in a heads up car. The lithium battery opens up the opportunity for reconsidering old conventions.
I use a 5 pound Antigravity ATX20-HD battery. It has 900 CCA, and spins my 13:1 hemi like the plugs are out of it. The case is 6.89 x 3.4 x 5.12 inches Since it is so small and so light, I mounted it on the inside of the drivers side frame rail , between the frame rail and the transmission. Transferring it to the trunk would not benefit weight distribution because it is so light. That eliminates all the weight of cables extending to the trunk as well as the weight savings of the battery itself. Then I mounted the cut-off switch under the drivers side front floor, with the shaft protruding vertically thru the floor into the cabin. Then I used a 5/16" x .030 stainless tube from the switch, out the back as a light weight remote control. This set up saves gobs of weight, and I can operate the switch from the drivers seat. They say these batterys are supposed to last 10 years, but my battery failed after 4 years. When I notified Antigravity, they sent me a replacement for 1/2 price, so I'm happy. They said I can charge it off the alternator, no problem. But when using a 110 volt charger, it has to be a Li specific charger.
