3rd Annual Funny Car Reunion, July 25th, 2004, Raceway Park, Englishtown, NJ. This restored Top Fuel dragster was even more beautiful if you saw it in person.

Btw, the late Pat Foster, top funny car driver from the 1960s-70s era, restored the Jade Grenade. That's Pat with the Hawaiian shirt and pony tail, with his back to the camera.

Jade Grenade...that's a Pat Foster restoration.
Worked with Pat and Jim Hume sometimes in the late '70s when he shared shop space at Jim Hume's H&H Racecraft shop.
(My boss & I did fiberglass work on the FC bodies and hung out at all hours...)
Pat was utterly without fear, a great story-teller, helluva fabricator, and generally a blast to be around, as was Hume.
LOTS of stories to tell about that place and the funny stuff that went on there; fond memories...

Thanks for sharing that story. Some trivia: at that race that, late afternoon, as I was walking up the steps to go up into the tower, who do I see? Pat Foster walking down the opposite way. I said, "Hey Pat!", he acknowledged me and said hello in return. From that brief interaction I sensed that he was a cool dude and I was correct based on your comments.
