I never heard or saw anything like this. Maybe it came on louvered cars that had a vinyl top. Mopar did lots of strange things back then.

Says his friends car was coded for it and has only ever seen one other, an AAR coded for it.
What I'd like to know is what is the code for it.....Guaranteed these moldings were used on some but I know of no textured molding code....anyone ?

the textured rear window trim was included on a 1970 Gran Coupe with an OPTIONAL vinyl top

the "A67" - rear window louver package for the Plymouth E-body included a BLACK vinyl top & the textured rear window trim (so the stainless & paint wouldn't be seen thru the louver)

many stories about louver cars built without the textured trim - but with so few untouched survivors, many owners, 50+ years of modifications/restorations, it's probably too late in the game to figure out how, when & what actually happened during almost two years of "A67" production

I had a complete set on my 70 Cuda. It had a white vinyl top. I removed it when we restored it because I did not want a vinyl top. I had it in the living room taking pictures about the time I went through a divorce and one of the small corners got lost.

Maybe a silly question, but wasn't this just a finish on the regular trim.
Why not just scuff and spray wrinkle paint?
Hard to believe they made "special" trim with a textured finish?

Must have been a '70's thing. I have a '70 AMC Rebel SST 2-dr hdtp with a vinyl roof and it has textured trim around the rear window and at the edge of the vinyl on the dutchman.

It was a stamped finish... Not the regular trim with a coating...71 Road Runner also had it available for its rear window... EDIT: Here's the "unrestored" trim from the listing..

Wow, really? Folks haven't heard of this? It was specific to cars ordered with rear window louvers so the shiny window molding wouldn't show through the louver.

Might've been '70-only, might have continued on to '71.

I've noticed that no one has commentated on the trim for a Dodge Challenger with louvers. I've never heard of or seen a set for a Dodge Challenger or a 71 Charger. but I vagally remember a white textured set on a 71 Charger with vinal top.,not sure if my memorey is correct on that one

i guess we both remember the same window treatment on the charger[s]

I've seen black textured rear window molding on both a 71 Charger and 71 GTX with the B Body rear window louvers....never seen white, but it's possible?, IIRC on the 70-71 E body Barracuda/Cuda models it was available in black white, and I believe gold IIRC....Textured trim for the E body is aluminum based (standard is stainless), it's actually a bonded tri metal, aluminum on the back side and face with a copper base sandwiched in the center,.... the grain in embossed on the face surface only, backside is smooth....I've had several sets over the decades (unfortunately I've sold them all), as far as Challenger, I liberated a set of rear window louvers many many years ago off a 70 Challenger/vinyl top equipped out of a salvage yard, the rear window trim was black painted, moldings were stainless, after I stripped the paint off the moldings they were raw finish and never polished....only set I've ever seen.....

That's probable. The '71 Charger had the textured rear window trim available in black, white, gold and green. I've seen several black sets, only seen one white set on a car, and I've never seen any in gold or green. But then, I can't imagine anyone really ordering rear louvers on a car with a green roof.

The roof would have been most likely body color, the louvers were available is assorted matching body colors, or black as a default choice, louvers will also fit on a full vinyl top equipped 71 Charger, I've only seen one to date so equipped, louvers will not fit a 71 full vinyl top equipped Plymouth Sat/RR/GTX due to the trim/belt mld interference of the louver side piece.....

Been a few months since I seen a textured set. Commonly found on 1970 barracuda models with a top and the same for the 71’ Charger and if I remember correctly, c-bodies to. It was common to see it on gran coupes and even had a set off a Cuda. Unusual to find those as they are hard to restore while keeping the textured appearance. If your looking for oem resto, those will be needed.
