wasn't sure what the thread size was, but i found a 5/16 bolt that fits perfectly. It has 13 threads and only 3/4 long, so maybe 18 thread?

All thread rod, 12"-18" long, a nut & big washer and a 1" deep impact socket will work. Nothing fancy needed, the caps are not that tight.

Should be drilled and tapped for a 1/8" pipe plug.

I made a bridge for mine as well. Removes the main caps off in a nice easy way.

iagree Same here. 3 pieces of square tubing, one piece of threaded rod, and a nut.

Getting the caps off a cross bolted block typically isn't too bad.
The real benefit, IMO, of the "bridge"; is for installing them. Pushes straight and smooth. Tapping with a mallet can make the bearing shell fall out...

That's very cool! I made a bridge for pulling similar to the others, but use long threaded rods threaded into the main stud holes and try to drive each side down even with two wrenches which is a huge PIA. The bridge you made is very slick for driving the caps straight.
