Having looked at a lot of these cars, and now owning a 59, It is normal for them to have metal replacement in the rocker panel area, floor pan area by the rockers, and trunk pan area. They rusted very easily.

Buy a mostly complete one, because parts are hard to find in good shape.

don't forget to look close at the front fenders above the headlights.
that was a "factory" rust area as well.

I'm aware of the "areas" of those. Used to own a few before the Magnum bug bit
