I called Wilson and had a good conversation with them on the phone. They were willing to spend a little time doing that without cutting me off. After that, I sent them my manifold to look into modifications. The evaluation of my piece is what lead to the new intake being built.
Wilson products have a good reputation and the people struck me as open, honest, and friendly. That means as much to me as the product they sell. They invested in me so I invested in them.
There are others out there that could do similar work on a similar product. In this case the people earned my business. Did the option of a single plane intake come up? I'm just curious as to their reasoning behind going with a dual was.

It did but we went with the RPM due to hood clearance issues. A dry intake doesn't care about the dual plane thing. This one looked like the best all around intake.

This isn't a street/strip car. It's a 5300 lb cruiser with 3.23 gears and 29" tires. The needs of the two are rather different.

I think what powertrip was getting at is the Holley SD's manners are VERY similar to the Edelbrock Performer RPM and it will have more hood clearance. I've tested both manifolds and they are almost identical performance-wise even though one is a single plane and the other a dual plane. The old Torker probably isn't much different, especially in this application.

Close, I have tried every manifold available back in the day on a mildly built stock stroke 440 in a heavy B body, the Performer RPM fell short on HP, and was no better in TQ. Also, the RPM is taller than all of the old school single planes. With 541 cubic inches you will have no shortage of torque, could use all of the air you can get, and have limited hood clearance, which makes the RPM the worst manifold you could choose. Makes me question Wilson's recommendation.

I had a customer who put together a 493, and the preferred manifold was a Holley SD.
Unfortunately, after a 6-7 month wait and still no manifold....... he ended up having to make an alternative choice.
Currently, Summit doesn’t show availability until November, however...... the Holley site shows it as being “in stock”.
Personally, for the hood clearance situation alone I’d probably give the SD the nod over the RPM for this application.
Provided it’s actually available.

Maybe it's the spread bore flange or runner length they're looking at.
The SD was going to be the intake until I went EFI.
At this point the intake is already in motion so I'll stick with it.

No. Wilson's prices are outrageous. x1000 You get what you pay for their stuff is top shelf American made stuff. OP if you can wait I bought that same 4150 ok black Friday last year from them for $160 off.
