Either the above, or a clockable starter, or one of those terminal relocation kits should work.

Did you remove the plastic wire relocater bracket? If not try that and hook both starter wires up directly to the starter terminals scope up twocents

Yep! Did that on my low deck w/Edelbrock heads and 1 7/8 CPPA headers.

part # 17010 and 17181 are both nippondenso style starters BUT 17181 is the smallest and you will have to remove the battery cable plastic adapter

i havent made a purchase on a new starter yet. i have took some measurements i've only got 6'' from mounting surface on tranny to header the robbmc starter is 8'' .i have come to conclusion that thhe starter cant be much longer than 6'' and it needs to be clockable if its a little longer than 6'' i can ding the header. can some1 list some 6'' clockable starters the part #'s would be a big help

99608 Remy was new and looked like the 17181 Denso. So was cheaper as no core charge since new.
I never tried to pull the plasic adapter off yet just got it.

just a few days ago, someone said the smallest starter out there is for a 2005-2008 [or so] ram truck with a manual transmission.
the number i wrote down for this was 410-48238, from amazon.
how true this is, i don't know. just tossing this out there.

Hmm I see

which also has the advantage of terminals on the rear of the solenoid, as compared to

Anyone guess if this 410-48238 will bolt onto a 1971 413? Is the nose right?

i finally got the cvr starter i wrapped it with blue painters tape to keep it from getting scratched so i could send it back if it didnt clear the headers . had to clock it a few times to dial it in it clears the headers .i couldnt believe it fit but i definately got the headers bolted up .i bought these headers used and had them ceramic coated some1 cut the front tubes #1 and #2 off near the header collector and welded a tube for it to slide down in by doing that it made it a lot easier to get them up from underneath car. i had to remove steering colum to get #1 tube down into sleeve and on passenger side i cant use my mopar performance valve covers cuz it hit #2 tube so gonna run old stock valve covers with my indy ez1 heads . with my engine combo and gear if it will run 7.40 in the eighth i'll be satisfied and pleased. well gotta get back to turning some wrenches . thanks to every1 that replied to my post.
