Is there anywhere to buy the old radio connectors? I have an ebody 70 am/fm thumbwheel that had the connectors cut off and I would like to put the proper connectors back on the wiring. Also, can someone tell me what color wires are for what? The colors I have are red, black, green, purple, and orange.

Red is switched 12v
black is ground
Orange is dash lights
green and purple are the speaker outputs but I forget which is which there. The FSM would have it though.

If you can locate a C body radio with the same connectors that will work

Then he would still need the spade terminals.

It looks like, from googling pictures, it's just standard Packard 56 style connectors and terminals. You will need to sort out what you need though.

I possibly have both but need to know what the connector(s) look like or look around online. Do some shopping as prices vary a bunch depending on where you buy them

Thanks guys for the info!

TJP- Here are pics I found online, this is pics of a 72-74 radio, ebody as well. I think the connectors are the same but not sure. I just know the radios are different styles (don't need the cassette lead).

Try contacting Bill Evans, he has several different plugs & the spade connectors. Here's some pics I have, just because

Bill Evans will have the conectors. I picked some up from him over the summer to redo my radio.

If you can get them from Bill great, if not I likely have them but will have to verify, the connectors maybe used or new, terminals would be new

If you don't care about color, they are packard connectors as someone else mentioned.

I have both the male and female in my stock. Let me know if I can help out.

I would think those are pretty basic 70s mopar connectors & used on many models, find an Imperial they have more electronics in them & chances are probably pretty good you will find what you need.

I bet you could get it from any electrical supplier ( even locally ) waaaay cheaper than from any restorer's shop.... maybe less than couple of bucks for everything you need.

Just needed to search for packard 56 or Delphi connectors ( or Alptiv as a new brand for them )… 2 ways for the power and 3 ways for the speakers ( being stereo ). Then the terminals from same suppliers.

eBay and Amazon for sure and, Alibaba, Aliexpress mostly sure too are full of them. Even Wallmart shows them searching on line. But there are plenty of US shops with them available. One of them was already posted.

some others:

https://ceautoelectricsupply.com/individual-components/connectors-and-plugs/packard-connectors/

searching at Mouser website you'll find allmost any designed conector available too.

the females should be actyualliy Packard 58 series, but those are a bit harder to find and 56 series matches good with 56 series.

sometimes at local part shops at the "help" section can be easily found too.

I saved a few bucks on restoring the face of the radio myself so I splurged on the connectors. This way I get the right ones the first time. I agree I could have gone through amazon/ebay/etc if I wanted to be more frugal.

Instead of upgrading/modernizing the radio, I am looking at the "Out of Sight" audio box. This will get me 4 channels and bluetooth capability and still be able to use the original radio (and controls). Looking at the Mark 2 unit.. https://www.outofsightaudio.com/mark-2.html Now, if there is something similar that might be more economical, I would be interested in that option.

my charger has the am 8-track player.
in the past, i have changed out speakers front and rear, but i was never satisfied how it sounded.
in later years, i may have discovered i might have used the wrong ohm speakers, so i may have inadvertently damaged the unit.
also, i have an audiovox fm conversion unit hooked to it.
it's one of those tiny glovebox units that in order to use, you must first put the am at ??? station before you can tune in the fm station you want to hear.
it seems to work good [well, in the past it did] and i plan to keep it.
however, i haven't had this radio working in a very long time.
