Drag racing is not dying, it has and will keep changing just like it always has. A while back in 2018 JJ Deboss held a street race at an abandoned air field in St. Clair Missouri, there were so many people that showed up to watch and race the police had to close a major road due to the traffic jam. And you could drive an hour east to Gateway one of the best tracks in the country and race with just a handful of spectators watching. Makes no sense to me, but that is a reality.

Ohhhh I know it’s not dying but (some) guys on here insist that it is. For sure it’s changing but the racers have a accept the changes the sport is going through. I feel sorry for some of the guys out west that have to travel crazy distance to race. But for the guys that only race Mopar events only your local tracks and Mopar only events are going to be a thing of the past. Same with the I don’t want to race 1/8th mile events.

Yes we are. Who in their right mind would wait 12 months to get a set of paid for Mopar sized Molnar rods and still not have them. ME.

Don't tell the folks on the west coast its not dying. Because unfortunately it is. We loose another track this coming March, another national event facility that will be gone forever.

There is a reason we travel 1800+ miles each way to race the heads up car back easy. We have no choice if we want to race.

I'm incredibly lucky, given my interest in participating in drag racing has been picking up again over the last year, that a I live in the Mid-Atlantic region where there are a number of tracks w/in a few hours drive, and some less than 2 hours away.

If I was still in SoCal today and wanted to be involved again, I'd be waaaay frustrated at the lack of options and opportunities. "So, how's the local street racing scene, bro?" whistling

Just like that MATS in Las Vegas. My first time going was the Hemi 50th Anniversary it was great! Dodge was out there, lots of cars in the show and racing and Mopar only. Then Attendance and Big Brand Booths dwindled since and it went from Mopars at The Strip, To Mopars and Muscle cars at the Strip to just Muscle Cars at The Strip. But if that is what it takes to keep the fun going then so be it!

When Mopar went bankrupt in Barack Obama reigns the government made them cut off a bunch of dealers which included the Painter family in Utah. Jay Painter was the promotor for Mopars at the Strip.
He wasn't authorized to use the Mopar name or logo after that hence it became Muscle Cars at the strip shruggy work

Loose Rocker would like to thank the amazing 351 entries, their families and crew, and the GALOT staff for an incredible weekend for the Summit Racing Equipment American Doorslammer Nationals presented by McCarty's Auto Parts. Congratulations once again to Peter Biondo for reminding everyone why they call him the Terminator. Biondo has competed in just three days of American Doorslammer Nationals competition and won all three. He swept the weekend this year with the Saturday 20K win over Steven Dunn, then backed it up for the Sunday 20K win over Blane Parrish. Biondo won his first ADN 20K in 2016 over IHRA World Champ Jeff Parrish... Blane's father. Parrish deserves to hold his head high after making stout runs in not one but two meetings with Biondo during Sunday's eliminations, each decided by just two thousandths of a second. Speaking of stout runs, a special congratulations to Tommy Plott for his jaw-dropping PERFECTLY perfect run... .000 dead 0, taking .000! And a tip of the cap once again to the GALOT staff for giving us an outstanding surface all weekend long, and being on top of Friday's rain late at night to have us on track shortly after 10am Saturday morning.

Down under in South Australia we are having a new $30m drag strip being built and should be open in March 2023, with a state population of only 1.5 million and the area 4 times the size of Texas we are not doing to bad.
