not familiar with the newer stuff but their is usually a lock of some sort that engages when plugged in. You can usually find the connectors at napa or online. Would be helpful if you research and find the correct name application. only other option would be a bit of plastic adhesive wink
might also try a Ram forum beer

going for a "WAG" here..........
doesn't the neutral safety switch look and act like the old 727/904 switches ? three wires, center wire is ground for the starter relay, while the two outer wires complete the reverse light circuit ? [all contacting through the rooster comb of the valve body]
then, there is the other connector[s] that control the overdrive and lockup, as well as the governor function in the electronically controlled [RE] transmissions ?

The N/S is an input to the TCM/PCM.

When it doesn’t “see” the N/S it can cause loss of OD, other issues.

No, RH needs to see the N/S for O/D and L/U.
The1,2,3 shift occurs purely by hydraulics but O/D and L/U is electronic over hydraulic.

I have had that problem.

There is a small lip inside the connector that helps grip the switch. Often the connectors get hard and it takes a lot of force to get the lip to slide onto the switch.

Usually if you can force it a little harder it will snap and stick onto the switch. Not always but often it will work.

I have used a prybar and the back of a socket to force them on.

Hope it helps
