Man that thing will be a cluster ____ to work on!!! Might be fun to drive but I am gonna think about retiring when they start showing up with leaks everywhere and you can't get to anything to fix it...

I'd love to have one of these to replace the 225 in my Duster. I'd even "settle" for the lowly 400h.p. entry level stocker.

I wonder if it would fit in my 70’ Cuda or 71’ Charger R/T? What transmission auto/manual will bolt up to it?

They sell a transmission that will work with it, separately. No prices given so I imagine it'll be damned expensive.

I couldn't find any info on any other trans that might fit

Is there an internet webpage with tech details of the Torqueflite 8 transmission?

Is it also claiming 95% or more efficiency?

There will be millions of Jeeps and trucks with these in a few years, no need to buy an overpriced brand new crate version. If its a legit American 2JZ people will be putting them in everything, 400-500hp stock means its going to be built strong and will only need more boost to make crazy power.

Yeah, that's more likely the route I would have to go. New with warranty is nice, but exceeds my budget. I would guess it'll be a few years for the aftermarket support to be there anyway. I'm in no hurry. The Duster is currently number 3 in line for resto....if I live that long.

Without looking, I remember a hot rod article from not quite 10 years ago calling the ZF transmissions the Torqueflite 8.......

Cool that Stellantis isn't going 100% to EV.

Straight sixes are capable of big power. Adjustable wastegate and meth injection and probably can get 1000hp with just a simple tune.

more and more garage, house, and apartment fires reported caused by battery fires, being charged or not, doesn't seem to make a difference.
i'm not a fan of electric vehicles, except in very limited circumstances.
plus the fact lithium mining is FAR from "green", yet no one mentions that, or seems to care.

I am naturally skeptical of any study with so many variables but I have seen several studies that say that end to end, all things considered that EVs pollute about 50% of what petroleum fueled cars do during their lifetime. This includes all aspects of manufacturing.

I have also seen that while they gather no publicity that petroleum fuel cars catch fire more often per 100,000 miles driven than EVs.

I have made no attempt to fact check either and really don't know how I would given the cesspool known as the Internet.

One cannot total up CO2 or CH4 emissions from a battery electric vehicle over its estimated lifespan unless one knows what generates the electricity used to recharge the battery thousands of times, with not all recharges in the same place.

If you live in Norway with its Hydroelectric power plants you can make a better guess,
or in France with its Nuclear powered grid.

Recall the post from months ago where Porsche and Exxon are building “synthetic gasoline from CO2 in air” plants in Chile’s windy South region where Windmills will supply the power. If you buy nothing but Porsche/Exxon syn fuel from there a old fashioned IC engine vehicle will surpass the battery electric vehicle on CO2 emissions.

From my perspective not one person in ten can wrap their mind around what a massive change it would be to make steel and cement from hydrogen instead of from carbon fossil fuels. I suspect not one in ten can imagine a world without 90% of the plastics widely used today.

I also doubt many realize how the Earth will be changed by all the new mines
that MUST be built to get the new basic elements needed
to manufacture all the new equipment needed.

Everyone on Earth will have a new mine of some type “in their backyard” so to speak. NIMBY times ten upset people.
( at least until we can start using space tugs to haul in asteroids)

Except they don't generally catch fire in your garage, Fords excepted of course, lol.

AGREE

I'd call BS on that I would also ask what about the disposal of the toxic waste from this plane saving BS. Myself I find it somwhat strange that this whole EV thing sprung up like a watered and fertilized weed. ( BTW BS is a good fertilizer LOL) I kind of wonder if Musk isn't pushing the buttons ?

I would also question that data as how many EV's have traveled 100K miles?

sadly after seeing it, its just as big and heavy as a v8, overly complicated for a drivetrain swap and won't make you pop your hood to show it off. Probably the most unappealing engine I've seen in a long time.

Yup! Barely more appealing than an electric motor... then maybe that's what they're after, make an overly complicated un-inspiring pile of garbage nobody will buy then claim everyone wants electric and ditch them all together, thats what happened to the Dakota, they made it huge, butt ugly, no better MPG than a half ton, no engine anyone wanted (hemi and the 3.6 would have been super easy to put in) then said "well nobody is buying it lets quit making them?
