If you have not broken a 23 spline box you either have very little traction,a slipping clutch, or not enough horsepower
NEVER broke a 2.66 trans. Did break input shafts on 2 3.09 transmissions. I guess my slicks are slipping, along with my clutch and I'm down on horsepower......... what to do to get 2 1/2 tenths and a 10 second run ????????
Put some "GOOD" heads and compression to that car and see what breaks next the Dana or the 23 spline box Ask anyone who builds them on regular basis "what will break this trans" They will tell you,too much weight, horsepower or traction will kill it you pick which one applies Gus
um, isn't that the case with any transmission?

Dana, 4.30 gears, Sure grip, SS leafs moved 3" with Rancho 9way adj shocks.
I just changed my stick setup over to an 18 spline hemi setup. Now I've got slick shifted sliders with brass blocker rings for street driving. Also a 9310 input shaft and billet retainer.
Clutch is a B&B Hays competition 2500# and Ram 6 puck Bronze disc.
So far on the street it is just fine. No chatter and slips just well enough to drive smooth and fine. No issues. Grabs hard. Even shifting at 2500rpm it chirps the tires if I let the clutch out fast between all shifts.
Can't wait to try it at the track.
Why the change in clutch setup? I thought you loved that twin disc?

my junky 727 slips from 2-3rd.i havent had a 4 speed car since the 80s.want to switch over my 69 dart to 4 gear.has anyone used a brewers kit.i have a big block with aq 9 inch ford rearend.32x14 street tires,3.54 gear.traction bars,7 leaf springs.tubbed out with frame connectors I don't see a down side to going to Brewers to get what you need if it's what you want to do sooner than later, it'll be faster than trying to piece it together if you are trying to save money .... but time is money ....
