a buddy of mine got this trans from a guy that was too much in the burn out box. bent the output shat approx 45 deg. i am replacing the broken parts i.e. output shaft, ext housing, gov support and a few small parts. it air checked good and bands look good. clutches are also ok. please pay particular attention to the solenoid, the alum block it is bolted to, the seperator plate is an 1/8 alum plate that has been cut out with a jig saw and cleaned up with a wizzer tool. anyone seen anything like this before? tia

A lot of brakes were “crafted” from stock parts “massaged” to work their magic. This in and older Griner and a Pro Trans brake. I’ve also had a Transact brake that had the larger solenoid like the Griner. Can’t say I know who’s handy work that is.

I believe it is a TransKing

It should have low band apply and fluid release brake valve

I think they are in New Caney, TX

Gilbert is the valve body tech

And, as an FYI, the ProTrans brake is A&A.

All TA stuff is hand engraved on the edge of the separator plate with the PN and serial number so it is readable when installed in the car if you have the pan off. TA has always been super helpful in decoding the serial number as to the date of the build and if it is good to use as is, or can be improved upon.

Pro Trans develop and manufacture a lot of race parts for 727,904 and their all out race 3 speed Pro Flites. They also whole sell a lot of their race parts to other tranny builders like A&A work
Good people, good PARTS up

I believe A&A does as well. They have CNC machinery there for drums, etc, etc.
I was told a few years ago the two companies brakes were the same as they were jointly engineered, along with other “ shared” parts.

This is correct about A&A. Being that I am a distributor for A&A, I know they manufacture their aftermarket parts. To my knowledge, if they sell any other manufacturers aftermarket parts, that is something I am notified about upon placing an order.
