Would source for kit stud, washer, and fine thread bolt as a,package and not have it be high shipping was crazy on a few sites. Shipping was as much as part

The local ACE does not carry studs anymore. Has not for a long time.
Went and grabbed one from Rticks-Moparts (E-Berg)
But hate eBay for quite a few good reasons

it's mainly for lazy people. But then again by the time you chase all over or order the stuff online (time + shipping) doesn't seem so bad. Ridiculous? yes, out of line for some who has more money than time shruggy

So Seller buys in bulk 100 piece lots, sells 100 kits at a tidy profit and gets a 1099. Is the 2K profit (if that) worth it ? To some I guess so, to me right now NO

Many times I spend more in time and gas just looking for the stuff than just ordering it.

That is why I wanted another stud.
After ordering I found the Bolt in a box of engine tear down bolts.
I have not found the stud. I like having the stud to assist me to get the starter in place.
I would assume normal .a person leaves the stud in the transmission.
More proof I am not the normal person I guess.

Sometimes the stud will stay in place and sometimes it comes out with the nut. Luck of the draw.

Just an FYI: A stud (especially in aluminum) should always be "tightened" so it "becomes one" with the mating threads and the stud remains stationary while tightening or loosening the nut. The purpose behind this is to take the stress off the aluminum threads when tightening and loosening. wink beer

I guess Mopar didn't do a very good job at that then. I've pulled way more studs with the nuts attached then just the nut off the stud, back when I was working on this stuff starting in 72, and since. Many of those would have been 1st time starter removals. .

So, what did you think most of my classmates were doing in high school? I didn't get that excuse, I was suppose to be fixing cars at work like my boss expected. The partying I did was drinking, and when I became legal to do that, it wasn't any fun anymore. I was a motivated kid, I had big plans, and wasting money getting drunk or high would have delayed those plans.

And here I thought I was the only one like that back then.

in the early 70's you'd get high just walking around the Milpitas Ford assembly plant parking lot. The Vans appeared to have fires inside with all the sweet smelling smoke exiting the roof vents and side doors. Actually had a car come down the line with a lit Joint in the Ashtray. the line manager for that section confiscated it and finished it off with the manager from the next section NO BS. biggrin
