I like these wheels from Jegs BUT they're a little too black ... nothing to contrast against the tire. Anyone ever strip off the powdercoat and polish the rim ??

I haven't but I would just strip and polish the very outer edge or what would be the outer bead area and maybe just paint them the same as the edges of the spokes (silver?) If you could find a match for the spoke edge (silver?) then you could paint the outer rim edge to try it and see what it looks like? Just a suggestion.

How about a simple pinstripe? I'd be worried about screwing up the wheel trying to remove the powdercoat........ nervous

I have a similar set of wheels I got from Vision, who probably makes Jeg's wheels for them. There was an option on mine to have the outer rim polished.

That being said, these wheels are heavy cast wheels. I'd be frightened to put them on a heavy fast car.

That's my thought as well. Generally the powdercoat is done before the final machining operation to cut the labor of masking. The spokes ar probably not polished or painted, just machined slowly with a very high speed cutter

Like Slantzilla says, the Jeg's wheels seem to be made by Vision Wheels.
I think they'd look nice if the barrels were polished rather than black; I'd suggest looking at Vision's website.
To my eye, black wheels distract from the total vehicle appearance, and aren't very interesting.
Last pair of Vision polished wheels I bought for a project didn't have a very high polish, like you see from new Welds & etc.
And they were pretty heavy, more like a street wheel.

I'm happy with a "street" wheel. Hell, we 've been running cast wheels on our cars since the '60's - even on race cars !!

I went to the vision site but didn't see anything that struck my fancy.

I like this look but not the price! Just a fine polished rim seems to do the trick.

A product called Benco 17 is what powder coat shops use to remove it. It's expensive, but they (people online) say it's about all that is out there that really works well anymore.

Not sure if I can get a pic posted, but mine are all black pretty much.

One other thing is these wheels use a regular cone lug nut, not a shank style.

Maybe I am old school but I do not like this black rim look on everything and don't like most of these newer design wheels. I did pick these for my Challenger though.

I think I'd prefer these rather than "stick-on" rim blades

I have a friend that runs these, and he sent to his painter to have the outside edge painted to match the center machine area. it looks good I have no pictures of them, but you have to get really close to notice its painted.

I'm also thinking of the possibility of making a quick and dirty turntable, position the wheel, position a die grinder with a flap wheel and sand off the powdercoat on the rim. Then go with progressively finer flap disks till its to my satisfaction. You'd need to prep the surface for paint so you may as well just stick at it down to bare aluminum and polish it. Just a thought.

Another thing I don't like about all of these black anodized wheels is that they fade to brown over time from being out in the sun light.

Mine sits outside a lot and the wheels have not faded yet. That said, next season I am going back to my polished Monocoques.

One other thing I found annoying on my Visions, the width/offset of my 15X10s is off. The wheel itself is almost 11" wide and they barely fit my wheelwell, when I should have had over an inch of clearance.
