I know the VSS changed in 93 for the gas trucks and the 2WD auto diesel trucks, but the clusters appear to be the same for the manual trans and 4WD trucks with just a single VSS signal wire to the speedo. Do they interchange and will the 91.5-92 speedos interchange as well? I'm looking for a speedo for the 93 RC cluster in my 74 crew.

dad had a problem with his 91 d150. speedo worked odo did not. he had 4 other speedo's and they had a different back side than his orig 1. he tried to interchange them to get the odo to work but nothing happened. he finally called the speedo shop and got his orig 1 repaired. it was 160.00. bill's speedometer in bonne terre, missouri. only 3 wires on it. power ground and speed sensor, but i am sure you already know that.

My speedo and odometer work but the trip odometer is messed up, doesn't reset correctly. So yes mine is 3 wires also. I can see what is wrong with it but I can't fix it. So I guess at least back to '91 is the same. Do you know what other years your dad tried? I know at least '89 and prior are different.

Dodge went electronic speedometer in the 1990-1993 trucks (and obviously newer years but not on topic). The 1993 speedo heads seems different in that access to the gears is not possible? Thse gears are sold new on ebay and fix most issues not VSS related.

so a speedo head from 1990-1993 will work in your case. Ive got a 1993 speedo head in my 1992 and its perfect after gears were changed, after I blew the circuit in the 1992 when the jumper wire slipped testing the circuit board. oops
