I think they were an option on the R-body cars...but those are definitely over the counter. Late-70's/Early-80's. If it was an "assembly line" piece, it would not have the r/w/b Mopar logo on it. If it was an option on R bodies it would be a factory item. That's what option means. If it was over the counter only then they could be on anything, even non-mopars.

Seems like there are a lot more thermometers than mounting brackets, I've had several of them but never had a bracket.

Last I knew they were $100 or better. I have one on a mid/late 70-s car as it came to me with it although not in the best shape it does work.

My customer was very appreciative, so thanks again guys! rdrnr, he tells me they go for a lot more than that $9.95 list price now. Imagine that, IF you can even find one... As soon as I saw this thread (yesterday) I went on a search. Nothing. VERY cool pieces.

Seems like there are a lot more thermometers than mounting brackets, I've had several of them but never had a bracket. So, what do they look like without the mounting bracket? Never seen or heard of these before, one might be kind of cool on my 49 Dodge pickup, but probably not $100+ cool.

I was going to say, I don't know what the factory installed ones would have looked like specifically but usually things like that either didn't have anything or might have a pentastar, they never had a mopar logo.
