Howdy All, a general question really.

How are Gen II Hemi's with Nitrous? I thought I read somewhere that they don't go so great with large volumes of it, and I don't imagine the piston crown shape if particularly condusive to it.

What have been your experiences with it? A friend has asked me to drill and tap a new intake manifold for direct port nitrous for his 611 Hemi.

Cheers

I run it, but not using a ton of it. I'm only spraying 300 hp through an Induction Solutions plate system. Picks up about 15 MPH in the 1/8 w/ a VERY conservative launch. I barely 60' faster on nitrous than I do on motor, lol.
At this level, it responds like any other engine in my opinion. Maybe it changes at 500+ hp...I don't know and never plan to go that far.
It seems to tolerate timing pretty well, but I admit I don't tune to the ragged edge. Not even close. I'm all about reliability and not burning stuff up.

The intake valve relief needs paying attention to. Some hemi pistons are really thin there.

Hemi's are like any other engine. As mentioned above, as long as you don't get too greedy with the tune you will be fine. I run a Racepak, with sensors for both nitrous kits for fuel pressures and nitrous pressures as well as 2 O2 sensors and all 8 EGT sensors for tuning. No issues with bigger doses of nitrous.
