I haven't posted in years and to be honest haven't worked on or driven my car in 8-10 years. I'm considering selling and have been out of the scene for so long, I thought I'd post and get some opinions.

1970 Dodge challenger
VIN has been state issued as the original dash/vin was missing. This has been registered for years in NYS so that isn't an issue.I realize this hurts the value.
Original SE car and FC7 with white top.
Original motor and trans gone. Has a 400/auto in it currently.
It'll run and drive with some basics but would need to be gone through completely.
No rust and has always been inside.
Has a fuel cell from the 90's days in trunk.
Like I said, looking for opinions on the value. I did consider doing a modern swap but was overwhelmed with options and information TBH. Last time I was involved with old cars, the OD 5 speed from Keisler was just coming out as was Passion Performance 5 speed I think. Anyways, thanks and hope everyone is doing well.

No rust big plus. Some other things as you know take away value. I'd say $15 to $20 thousand but probably closer to the $15k

I agree with your assessment. That makes more sense than 35-40k. Just seems like too much without the documentation.

Do you know what the original VIN/model it was or an idea what drivetrain it had originally?

It was originally an "N" code car. The numbers are on the radiator support and throughout the car. So 383 car and judging by the transmission hump, an auto car.

Years ago, like 30, the DMV sent a field guy out to verify it wasn't stolen. Once verified, I had the car shipped to their office and they issues it a new NYS VIN number on the door which matches the registration now. Not sure what the process is now but at that time they couldn't use the original VIN number which is what I was hoping for. Things may be different now though.

No sir. No tag or build sheet. Just the factory stamps on the body panels.

I can’t see it going under 20k. Where are these cars that are priced that way? The state issued vin won’t stop a guy from driving it and you can’t find better or build for less. I’d say high 27-30k until people figure out how bad the economy can get in the next year. Installing a gas tank would help in getting the higher number. Getting it running good is a given to get much of anything close to true value, so deduct for that if you don’t have time to sort it out.

Yes, of course! That probably pushes it over $20k! Such a huge difference! Removes many unknowns. Good luck, nice driver for sure for someone like me whose not so into "matching numbers" and that kind of thing.

It would be just like any other transfer. The vin would follow the car.
