Does anyone know of a way to remove wiper blade wear marks on a windshield that actually works? I've tried nearly all of the methods I found on the internet. The scuffs on my windshield aren't deep, actually I can barely feel them at all but I haven't had any luck getting them out.

I was told if you can catch them with your fingernail that they won`t come out. I did a windshield many years ago and polished wiper scratches out and it did distort the glass.

I was told same thing by window tint guy. If you can catch them with a nail, it's a no go.

Facts are stubborn things.

I removed some on a 70 Cuda. Some distortion, but it’s not in the line of sight. Some would catch a fingernail. I tried cerium oxide, that and abrasive rubbing compounds and even toothpaste seemed to do the best. What I found was you need a high rpm die grinder and a hard pad, and work in small areas at a time. It took a long time, and getting the clarity back once you actually cut the glass isn’t easy. Good luck. Don’t build up too much heat.

I think the heat is what did me in.

A scratch you can catch with a fingernail is a crevice in the glass. How would you expect to "polish it out," which would mean you are bringing the surrounding glass down to the level of the scratch, and not expect to distort the view through the glass?

The only way you could eliminate the scratch and not cause a distortion would to be to reduce the entire top surface of the glass down to the level the scratch is. Good luck doing that! The effort required to do such a thing would make a replacement glass be a cake walk. There are reasons we don't do some things, even if its possible to get a good final outcome. I suspect the chances of reducing one small area, or the entire surface of a piece of glass without having a badly distorted piece of glass is not very high.

I reduced wiper scuffs a bunch using the Eastwood kit. Long process, watch the heat. Will it be perfect no, better yes.

You can buy kits to buff glass. it is alot of work if they are big or deep to buff and you risk distortions.

another good reason to carry zip ties.
if you get caught in the rain and notice the metal part of the blade is touching [or getting ready to touch] the glass, put a zip tie [or two] around that part of the blade.
it won't wipe very good, but at least it will keep the metal part of the blade from scratching the glass because the zip tie will be rubbing the windshield instead.
this works best if the head of the tie is next to the glass.
