I'd like to buy a set of OE 17s or OE steel police wheels to use in the winter along with dedicated snow tires for my 2022 Charger AWD. Anyone run into issues doing this, specifically with the computer throwing codes or anything similar aside from maybe a speedo being slightly off? Not sure how sensitive these cars are, did this with my Crown Vic for years and it made winter tolerable back on our private unplowed road.

I've done this a dozen times or more going back to the '70's with every car (family members too) and almost all through Tire Rack with no problems ever. Go there and do a tire and wheel package and it will walk you through. They supply the TPMS and you can find a nice set of winter alloy wheels for a little more than the steel wheels. One thing you may consider like my brother-in-law has been doing it to get the smallest rim diameter that will fit and work on your car and then get winter tires with a slightly taller sidewall for pothole protection. Make sure they will clear the rotors. I ran into that issue on my Daytona.

Thanks I've done it before I'm just worried if these new cars are so sophisticated it'll have problem if the new wheels+snow tires are a different diameter than the OE 20s.

Good point, the OE 17s I've found are if a similar trim but I'll have to check some part numbers to make sure. I don't have anything special like the Brembo setup that would require 20s Id think.

I always buy a set of used aluminum rims for winter tires. They're usually about the same price as new steelies are and look a ton better.

My 2014 Charger AWD has factory 19" wheels. Not sure about the newer Chargers, but mine has a bigger brake package, and 17" steels wheels probably wouldn't fit. I would check to see what brake sizes you have. Personally, I used my factory wheels for winter, and bought some nice 19" wheels and tires for summer.
