up
lot's of snake oil out there. Any oil thickener will help as will heavier weight oil. but it's a band aid and likely time for a rebuild. You wanted that crate motor anyway right ?

A good old school re ring, seals and bearing job is still dirt cheap and would outlast most of us here.

Might do some testing to see what is causing the smoke rather than put in additives.

There is no additive that will stop a worn engine from smoking. You have to decide if it's time to tear it down and fix it or put up with the smoke.

I've heard the old-timers say Bon-Ami would seal up the rings. Haven't heard it since the 70's though. work

Kind of sometimes works if the piston rings are not worn out.

If you have stuck rings pouring a few ounces of a mixture of diesel/kerosene and Techron in through the spark plug holes and letting it sit in the cylinders for a few days might work with freeing up any sticky piston rings. DAMHIK wink

I did watch a guy do it with a 305 Honda back in the late 70's. But, it had new rings that didn't appear to be seating. it did stop the smoking but I'm not sure for how long .
Another thing to keep in mind is there are compression and oil control rings. I'm going to guess both are sticking or are stuck. Repeatedly soaking the c-ap out of the cylinders with Berryman's B12, Marvel mystery oil or other solvents may help or make it worse. twocents

Any one that says you can fix this with any brand of "mechanic in a can" is also Blowing Smoke. Sorry couldn't help it.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Start by verifying where the smoke is coming from.

Are you using/loosing antifreeze? If so it could be a head gasket.

Run a compression check and look for a low cylinder. Squirt a little oil in that cylinder and see if it noticeably increases. If it does, it's your rings. Time to rebuild.

Sometimes a very low compression is a hole in the piston and oil in the cylinder won't help but a small camera in the cylinder will let you see. They are cheap on Ebag

You can also run a leakdown test to test the rings. The tool is pretty cheap too.

If you are not loosing antifreeze and the compression is good then it very well could be bad valve seals. You can replace them in the car but usually a valve job is the best method.

But to answer the original question... No chemical really fixes worn or broken parts so nothing you can really do but repair the engine or rebuild it.

Mechanics in a can..lol
an additive has no eyes or a GPS to zone in on what is causing your smoke, it just goes around the oiling system and tries to seal and clog up anything..or swell up rubber seals like in those stop leak crap...
