I have a 2013 charger RT with a busted trans. I found a 2014 trans in the junkyard. Can I just swap it in or do I need some kind of dealer reprogramming of the TCM or PCM?

Thanks!

I think you will have to swap the TCM from donor car. I have been searching another site and so far seems like this is the answer. Still looking.

Curious, is your trans in limp mode?

Thanka for the reply.

No I bought the car with the trans case cracked from an accident. A little piece broke off on the corner where the pan meets the case. I'm tempted to JB weld it, but it's where the brace bolts to the trans. Still tempted though.

Someone responded to me on ChargerForums and said that it should interchange no problem, but I would like some consensus before I pick it up from the junkyard.

That's where I've been searching. One said take the TCM. Then I saw a guy with a 3.5 so much older car who said he had to go to dealership and get reprogrammed. But I didn't see a bunch of responses yet.

From giogiapi on that forum:

"Yes to the above, the programming is in your TCM not the trans. If you know your torque converter is OK and you never get PO741 codes just swap the trans. Its a choice of unknowns there like which has the less miles and such.
Then there is no two run exactly alike thing. You may experience characteristic differences or the TCM may and begin a learning thing. Or like it never happened.

Get a new electrical connector plug, I tried to find just the o-ring but they sell it on the plug now. You may get lucky searching one out. Regardless get a new o-ring.
Get a new fill tube o-ring. I think earlier than 2011 year models had water intrusion there and it was eventually upgraded, but I would make sure a new one is installed.

You may want to opt for a deep pan?

No need to pay more for MOPAR ATF+4 fluid. There are only a couple places on the planet that make it. Nothing unique about MOPAR ATF+4. Valvoline is a reputable brand and will save you $$. They have one called Import Full Synthetic, Just read the label. See below."

Interesting. Definitely might as well replace the things he suggested while it's out.

Good luck with it! up
