I have a 6.4 that is raced in NHRA/NMCA Stock Eliminator. I am using a Holley Dominator system on the car. 2019 1320 Challenger. I use a leaded race gas (Renagade 116). What has anyone experienced with ignition timing? I use 26 - 27 degrees total above 6000rpm, generally finish line rpm about 7600-7700. I have been told that is max timing to use because of detonation above 27*. Anyone run 28 to 30* of timing and did you pick anything up? Thanks, Dyno

Every engine is different. One might take 30, one might take 25.

Since you’re using the holley, have you verified your timing? Your 27* might actually be 24, or even 30+. They holley has no way to tell if your crankshaft reluctor is in the correct spot. I’ve seen them off quite a bit, mine in particular has to use a 3* timing offset to get it where it needs to be.

Checking the plugs after a pass would be my suggestion. I also peek at the fuel flow numbers in the holley data log to see what timing changes make to fuel flow consumption, assuming all your fuel data is correct in the holley.

I did verify the timing. I use an ATI balance with a Stanke timing pointer. I will be going back on the dyno in a month and try to creep up on the timing and see if the numbers drop. I also am trying to find a solid roller lifter that will work. NO ONE besides Jesel ($3500) makes one.

May be worth a call to Dave Weber at MMX, since he's done a lot of G3 Hemi work. He's the Weber in the former Ritter & Weber race team.

How did you do the Holley system & not get the factory functions of the car messed up, I have been trying to find a set up that will have wide band o2 fuel control & tuning on my 2020 T/a 392 ?

To make the most HP you can on your motor you don't want to use the highest octane gas out there, it is a waste of money and fuel.
I would try either C10 or C11 if you insist on running leaded race fuel.
The least octane fuel you can run in that motor without detonation will make the most power and make the car run the fastest scope
I've been there done that with my old M.W. 1963 Plymouth stocker shruggy

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

I also race a 1968 Barracuda in SS/AH, so it is easier to carry just one brand of fuel. I have tried VP C12 and there was no difference.
