24 seconds in flight equals 322.6 yards per second which equals 968 feet per second, not enough time to duck in combat if you saw the muzzle flash from 325 yards away boogie
I would love to own one of those Barrett semi-automatic 50 caliper sniper weapons devil

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

Cab, at 325 yards you'd never see the puff, the muzzle velocity of that rifle is around 3150 fps, it remains trans supersonic for 1.2 miles. up

So if it’s only “transupersonic” (@1000fps) up until the 1.2 mile mark, it must be extremely slow (like a 100fps) at 4.4 miles.

Thats cool.

I want to try some long range shots.
But nothing even close to a mile.

I would jump for joy if i hit it at a 1000 yards.

All depends on how big a target you’re shooting at

I think the world record for 1000yds was just set a year or two back, 5 shot group…1.08”. Something like that. They worked hard forit, and spent big bucks. Custom build 416 Rigby.

I would be thrilled if i could hit lets say a 3 x 3 target at anywhere from 500 to 1000 yards .
Using my AR with something like a 70-75 grain bullit.

And yes..I know pretty much anything beyond 400 to 500 yards is pushing it for an AR15 .

I can keep 6" to 8" groupings in the 200- 250 yards as it is. And thats pushing it for my current scope
But want to try some long range shots....just for grins. Someday

I need to get back to the range. I havent been since covid started

But isn't an AR-15 the most powerful rifle ever?

I bought a browning a-bolt .300WM with a 26" barrel and 4x12 leupold so hopefully some day I could shoot 1000 yrds but I can't seem to figure out what ammo to use, I have had the best luck with the cheapest federal 180gr I can find. It will do a whole lot more damage than my AR that I no longer have of course.

I can't remember how to spell the name correctly of the 334 Leopold round. (SP?)
I was told by a custom sniper rifle maker for law enforcement agencies that the 50 Caliber Barrett rifle was not the one to buy for long distance accurate shooting due to its weight and so on. He is a registered firearm maker and seller so everything would be legal, no cash under the table deals. I wanted him to get me one of the Barrett semi-automatic, but he talked me out of fit shruggy
I do have several military rifles I really like to shoot, a Springfield WW1 30.06, a 1943 Winchester M1 30 caliber carbine and a Chineze AK 47 that shoots the old 7.62x39 rounds: up:
That M1 carbine is fun to shoot and really accurate up to around a 100 yds, perfect for trench warfare hammer My grandkids, Son and my Wife like to shoot it also up

Longest sniper shot is just over 3.5 kilometers and holds the record to this day

Just my twocents
That's a good rifle and deserves a good scope. If you goal is to shoot 1,000 yds, I would have gone bigger than X12 magnification.
Finding the right round for specific gun can test a man's patience. If you're going to go down that rabbit hole, make sure you start by using a SOLID bench and use a SOLID gun vice. I know...we're all great shots, whistling but do your best to eliminate human error before you start wasting precious ammo.

Those military 30.06 are one of the best to shoot. Way back in the day the guy I worked for did a lot of body work for marines in Quantico. They traded out a lot of ammo and guns(he had at least 15 riffles, and boxes and boxes of rounds) we would shoot 25-30 tracers a nite (almost straight up) what a sight. I got pretty good, I could hit Clorox bottles in the pond from 300 yards or more. Hit em just right and they’ed spin up in the air like a rocket.

.416 CheyTac is what was used.

416 Rigby would have to stop and take a break on the way to the target. lol
