No issues on my end! Try shutting down and reopening Google. They have had three updates just this week.

Every now and then I download and run Malwarebytes and run it a couple times then blow it away. In MANY years of multiple makes and models of PC's, etc, I've been fortunate enough that the "built-in" anti-virus has caught everything. If you're cautious about where you "surf" and what emails/files you open, you should be safe. I think there is a greater risk of your personal info being stolen elsewhere.

The one that comes with Windows has always been pretty reliable. But it depends where you surf and what you open. If you're on porn sites all day long or you open every file on every strange email you get, sooner or later something is going to infect your system. I'm on my PC a lot throughout the day for business and personal stuff. I think in 30 years I've had one virus and it was easily cleaned. Don't open any strange HTML files !! If there's something I don't fully trust but it "might" be legit - I try to open it on my phone. If it won't open there then its bogus.

I have used Malwarebytes for years with no issues.

Chrome is my preferred browser.

I in the past have read the Windows Defender is about 60% as effective as others. I don't know if that is true today but the old you get what you pay for expression comes to mind.
