So they're doing one last run of a trim level that was dropped 7 years ago on a platform that is 20 years old and charging $7000 more than a mechanically identical Charger SRT?
Exciting.

You realize that Charger is on the same 20 year old platform
exciting
Other than the age what is the issue with the platform?
Nothing
Some people just look for a reason.

Change just for the sake of change is all it is. Engineers convincing the powers that be that something is wrong and they have the solution. There will not be a worthwhile improvement with any potential replacement.

I don't understand the complaints. It's another choice before everything goes EV on us and it's a good platform with beast of an engine and the colors look good albeit only three. If you hate it don't buy one, probably will be tough to anyhow.
Facts are stubborn things.

I agree, it's a fine choice, the price isn't bad. My 2016 loaded 300S stickered for $47,700 with everything but the black painted roof. So $55 or $56 thou with the 392 seems not too bad. Fortunately for me I'm not in the market with only 23,xxx miles on mine with the lifetime max care warranty. My inner child is too tired to throw a "I want it temper tantrum".
At this price point, what would be the alternate choices? I don't know of any Rear drive, V8 equivalents? Save for the equally old corporate cousins?
I guess if you have to brag to the chubby guys at the Thursday night cruise in at the local grocery store that you have a Vee-8, it's a great choice. But the C43, M340i, S5, and CT5 are all as quick, and offer a better interior and features, and faaaaarrr better driving dynamics for about the same money.

Can they offer it in that hideous Vanilla color again?
I was in the LX launch team meeting when Ralph stated, "We cannot let the 300, Charger and Magnums launch in white because they look too much like a bathtub"... so that beige was chosen....

Can we get the Mexican cartels to help us with our supply chain issues? They don't seem to have any trouble getting stuff from one place to another.

This must've been what it was like in the early 1950's. Chrysler had the most powerful cars on the road, and yet the dumpiest; stodgiest; unremarkable styling of all the majors and even the then-surviving independents. I'm sure it's a wonderful car. But the 20-year-old, outdated, boxy styling does absolutely nothing to my loins.... and my wallet is near my loins. I couldn't even call it "handsome". That red/white/blue new emblem on the grille is the most exciting thing.
At this point, they could make a 2,000 horsepower car.... but if they put it in that same body.... I still wouldn't buy it.
To be completely honest, I was surprised/near shocked to hear the 300 is still in production.

So where's the red leather interior? They should've offered this from the get-go. I was working for the company that built the first 4 LH show cars for the1997 introduction lineup - WE built these cars from bodies-in-white: Interpid, LHS, Concorde, & the 300M. I got involved with the 300 right away, since I had owned a 79 300, plus being into all the old Mopar musclecars. I suggested to several people at Chrysler the badging should be the retro red/white/blue style, & the 300's should offer red leather interiors. They built the badging & we applied it & they did photoshoots with it. It never flew. We also never got red interior stuff to dress one out, so that fell on deaf ears. Now for the grand finale, we see vintage badging.
Isn't it funny how they are building all these epic editions to exit the gas-powered vehicle era? Wait til they are GONE. Sales are going to TANK when they start trying to shove $85,000 EV's down everybody's throats. HaHaHaHaHa.
