Well, 15 minutes of that and I was done. The only legit beef was the fuel pump, maybe. Maybe there was trash in the tank. Good idea to check that on a new system.
Radiator? Maybe. I wasn't there to see it.
Street brakes don't work at the round track? No s###. You cooked them? No kidding. I use those little calipers on drag applications. Barely enough front brake for a heavy street car just riding around. Brakes suck? Tell me how you figured out MC and caliper bore sizes. On the Wilwood stuff, you have to watch the piston sizes, and even then, I've never been excited about their stuff. Still, physics and math apply to everything.
Green bearings? They typically don't last on the street and they will probably leak some. Especially with the way he was beating on it. But aftermarket axles, rear end parts and brakes... I ,along with everyone who sells axles, could have told him that 40 years ago.
Oil filter adapter? Cast? Chinese? Poor design? Broke? You picked it and bolted it on.
Alternator? Sucks at low RPM? You picked it. 150 amps not enough? Tell me about the wiring, switches, relays and grounds.
Fuel injection? His conclusions are valid. Not everyone is a tuner or wants to spring for the good stuff. He tried it and found out.
Engine parts?
Has quality gone down as price point becomes more of a priority and production is farmed out overseas? Yes.
But don't b#### that everything is junk when you don't buy the right stuff for your application or intended use or because it's cheap, and then tear it up.
I have some experience working the counter at an auto parts store, a DIY type chain store, I saw it everyday. A lot of guys are in over their heads. A lot. I'm not bashing them. No one is born with Smokey Yunick knowledge. But, when everything you buy is junk and doesn't work right, maybe you need to think about the things you don't know, rather than assuming you know everything.
Phone tech guys? Trust me, the smart guys aren't sitting around talking to guys [censored] about not knowing how to use their stuff all day.
