Saw her race once at Castle Rock in the '70's. Got beat by a bowtie something. Afterwards I was walking over to her car in the pits to talk to her and she was being very vocal to her pit crew about the race. Very vocal. I turned around and left. She was really worked up and I saw no point in perhaps making it worse. What a gal. Rest in peace.

i always admired her, as well as any female racer back in those days. it wasn't like the "look at me, i'm a girl, and my daddy has lots of money" stuff of today. R.I.P. ms. Lilly
