I have a 88 pickup with the 318 TBI, very little oil pressure (light stays on or flickers). I have a 92 360 TBI engine in better shape. Can I use the 360 with the 318 engine controller? I have the 92 control box (look very similar) but it’s in a van and I'm thinking it would be a hassle to change wiring from van to truck. I have the FSM for the 88 truck but not the van. Also if I change engines I want to do the overdrive trans that’s hooked to the 360. Any suggestions

just for piece of mind I'd throw a manual oil gauge on it first.

The 318 PCM won't cut it. The van PCM should work if it has the same 60 way connector.

I’ll compare the two connectors

88 ecm has the 14 and 60 pin connector, 92 ecu has the 60 pin only connector.
Van harness would need some major extension and wire work to fit truck.

jerseybud, you may be correct in thinking wires might need to be longer but think about this. i think the van pcm sits right under hood and the motor sits farther back. might not be too many wires that need attention. i would be doing that swap and moving the van pcm to the blower motor area like 94 up. heck with putting pcm under drivers fender by battery. wires may have to be shortened then but could tie them up out of way. i wouldn't let that stop me from doing the swap.

Looking at the firewall block it’s different also, same amount of pins. Then steering column then dash. I’m thinking just put the 360 in and use the 318 stuff then work trans with pressure switches, there’s a kit made for that
