I've been asked to find a pair of backing plates for a '69 Road Runner with a Dana rear end. Are the backing plates for a Dana the same as an 8 3/4" rear or a different part?
Thanks

wave Hi Tony & John , Still measure the backing Plates . If your Donor Vehicle has Front Discs like my 69 Coronet RT with a Dana , you get 10" Backing Plates and Brakes , even with a Dana . drive Ronnie

Didn't the optional H.D. brake package include 11x2 or 11x3 rear drum brakes depending on which body style you ordered them on? work
i have one set of 11x3 with fin drums that I'm planning on using on the cut down truck Dana 60 for my 1963 Fury wrench

i believe the 11 x 2 1/2" rear brake assemblies are the same for dana's, 9 1/4 rears, and 8 3/4's.
they can be found on chryslers, and 2 wheel drive pickups and vans.
those things used to be super plentiful in the junkyards, but they seem to be few and far between these days.
back when, you could grab the whole assembly, and most of the time, you could just bolt it on and go because the front end does most of the braking.
at most, you may have had to knock off the rust ridge on the drums, or rebuild the wheel cylinders because the rubber cups got hard and stuck.
today, if a guy was lucky enough to come across this stuff in a yard, you would probably be only able to save the backing plate, the emergency brake equalizing arm and strut, and possibly the drum if it wasn't too rusty or cut oversize.
luckily, everything internal is available new. [i think]

Cop car M bodies came with 11x2 1/2" rear drums, that might be easier to find in a yard. New drums are readily available too.

[size:11pt][/size]The Road Runner has the A-12 package. The '69 parts manual shows 2 1/2" shoes have one set of numbers, and the 3" shoes backing plates take the next number up. Did Danas' come with 3" brakes?
