The power steering box in my 93 D350 is getting sloppy. I can get a rebuilt from Lares or Bluetop. Or a new box from Lares or Edelmann.

The Bluetop webside says their rebuilt uses oversize balls to take up the slack of the worn worm. Lares doesn't specify. The new Edelman is probably from china, but has a 100 year, 1 million mile guaranty from a very well established company. Not sure on the new Lares, but lifetime guarantee.

Does anyone have any experience that would help my make a good choice?

Thanks, Joel

Oversize balls eh? Since the worm gear doesn't typically wear evenly all the way around that sounds rather suspect to me. I got nothing else except have you tried adjusting it?

it leaks too, it's 30 years old with lots of miles. I'm thinking adjusting will be a waste of time. I just replaced all the balljoints, control arm bushings, tie rod ends, and idler arm. It'd be nice to have everything fresh.

Problem with remans is they still use the steering gears from a used box so even if all the other parts are new you still will have slop in it. Get new!!! Red head web site had a pic of about 20 steer gears where a guy was cleaning them up but that pic disappeared fast because it shows they reused old parts.
