Either or ... just pop them in. Orientation doesn't matter.

I can't see the style of side cover you have but if its the good early model then you need to lop those tips off the shift forks.

I've never seen round rings in any older a-833 ever taken apart.
Will they work? Can't say cause never used, or tried them.

Scissors dentent/interlock started in 71 so those would be correct for a 72 trans .

The round wire ones were used in the A230 3-speeds. Not sure why though. A230/A833 share some parts in relation to the syncro hubs/sleeves/etc.

All those rings do is put pressure on the dogs. They don't care if they're round or square. FWIW, I'm pretty sure they were round in the five boxes I've rebuilt - one 23 spline and four 18 spline.

Besides, the trans needs four and four is all ya got !!

I think NP, New Process, change the syncro assemblies 3 times in the production NP 833 4 speed Mopar tranny from 1964 up to the last change in 1970, maybe more or less confused
I have seen three different types of synchro assemblies in those trannies, The later ones shift a lot better than the earlier ones did up

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

The 69 and older springs are round. The springs in question are the 70 & newer style.
