i bought a clean 01 24v 6spd dually last year and it has grown on me. it has the normal rust in the fenders and front doors as well as a tiny bit in the rockers. i was able to find clean original fenders and mint doors (Quad cab) from AZ, so in redoing i thought i would change it into a sport. located everything but the secondary hood latch as mine is a slt not a sport.
My hunt has turned up no secondary latches, has anyone cut and lengthened their release? is it just adding on 2" or so to the rod or it it more than that? not having much luck finding answers on the net.
anyone even have a spare or at least a pic i can compare to?

I had put a sport grille on my 1995 and the latch was the same.

did you put a 99-01 grille or a 98-down grill? 99+ use a different latch rod because the 99+ sport grill is 2" bigger. (and you need a 99+ sport bumper to fit the bigger grille as well)

This should be the discontinued number. A dealer can check for any other dealers that might have one. 55275477AA

Parts voice came up empty as well. He'll have to find used (long shot) or modify his original.

i looked online. no luck. ill call my dealer tomorrow but doubtful. so many of these trucks were built but finding anything sport is amazingly hard to find. i can modify mine if i have to. still searching though. what i will probably do is buy a whole truck and just part it.

After the bankruptcy when Old Carco took over almost all the old "toxic" assets were scrapped. NOS parts for our '93's and '01 were getting next to impossible to find. Finding NOS Studebaker parts is a breeze by comparison.

It was just for reference not to buy one. The "sport" package was just painted bumpers/grill, Seems some things changed since the earlier ones. If you can find a "sport" in the same configuration as yours it should be bolt it. You can use the previous link to check other years. Look on craigs list for parts/parting out trucks or ebay. Could look on car-part.com to look for ones in local junk yards.

finding any new or useable used sport parts (99-02) is amazingly hard. i paid $800 for a fixable sport bumper and a nice sport grille used. i have a spare non sport latch, i will just measure up a sport and add the 2" or so to the rod.
i have messaged a few car-part wreckers but most dont reply on a part that small. not worth their time.
