Looking to get some body work done on my 72 Cuda. Rear quarters, inner fenders and braces, probably need some firewall patching or replacement as well. Rockers have a some bubbling under the paint, not sure if that will be repairable or need replaced. I'm sure there's other stuff that will be uncovered once I finish gutting the interior.

Anyone know of any reputable shops or people in the Central Pennsylvania area? I've called a few shops around here and so far I've either been told minimum 1-2 years or I had one guy tell me it was likely to be 40-50k (insane). Any tips would be great! I tried to locate some vendors at Chryslers at Carlisle this past weekend with no luck...

Good luck. I've been searching around here for a coworker who has two cars he wants done that have been stored away for 40 years. He couldn't even get a return call from the most prominent Mopar only shop in the area.

EVEYONE with any reputation is slammed. I've been told by a few people they have a 5 or 6 year backlog. I asked to have my Challenger repainted (I'd pull apart) with some very minor rust bubble on the rear quarters repaired. Was told $40k! Well THAT ain't happening. So I guess in 10 years when I retire I'll get a mig welder and learn how to repair/patch my own quarters, sand and either single stage paint in my driveway (if thats still an option) or wrap.

All the rust you see is just that, what you can see. The issue is, what are you going to see when the skirt is lifted and the entire chassis is blasted or dipped. With all the cars we've restored here, I can tell you with all certainty, it's going to be much worse seeing the type of corrosion truly on the car. A 40k-50k estimate is probably low to do a car body to the level you expect to receive. You'll have 5-8k in material alone and that's not counting the sheet metal you'll need to replace. True restoration work is a dying art, all of us in this business are looking for talented hands to put on these cars without success. I've had really good collision guys in here that are the best in replacing a fender with a knew one, bring that guy here? They don't last a few days to figure out they have no clue. 99.9% of all cars being restored today is either sentimental or for the love of the "hobby", you'll never restore a car to make money unless it's a 1%'er that you either owned for years and owes you nothing or bought it at a crazy low price.

Take it from me. Even the ones that you have owned for years will cost a lot of money..........even without the cost of unscrupulous body shops.

Build a garage in your backyard and tackle it yourself...
