What's an oil plug nylon washer ? do you mean a drain plug washer? Will they take the heat without losing their rigidity? If not there are likely other plastics that probably would.
HMM maybe a good idea up shruggy

Yes, what I meant. Not sure how much heat is right there but I would say no more the hot oil in the pan, 250 degrees?

OK.....got it running great with no smoke or sputtering on startup. Carb choke was misadjusted and when taken out...hemi starts fine with no smoke or sputtering. Oil not leaking into cylinders from tubes...Thanks to all.....BUT....there is a gremlin in My garage...about 6 weeks ago I noticed an oil spot on the floor and it was a slightly loose oil plug. New pan so I tightened it up just like I have done on every oil change since 1966. Today when going to work the car there was about a quart of oil under and all over My floor. VERY loose oil pan plug...tightened..AGAIN and will keep an eye on it.

These are nice:

Alternately we can also take a cue from German car service and add a copper crush washer to the existing plug.

The dorman's doo look nice. I've been using these GASKET ASST. LINKY And have taken to wrapping the plug threads with teflon tape
Shop on the suggested kits if you go that way as the price varies wink

All the early, pre 1965 maybe, Mopar oil pan drain plugs had a copper composition washer with some type of white colored (maybe asbestos) material wrapped inside the washer on them scope

I believe they used those into the mid 70's or so. I had a friend who was a lube jockey at the local dealership. he gave me about 500 of them ~ 25 years ago, I'm down to just a few frown never had a leak with one up

shifted to oil pan plug that keeps backing out then leaks...doesn't leak when tight but so far refuses to stay tight after a few rides

Sure do, keeps them from making a good ground to the cylinder head and is great for comebacks, then i can upgrade the plug wires and other things beer laugh2

back to the drain plug, any chance you have a 12mm x 1.75 bolt n a 1/2x20 opening? I ask as they are close diameter and pitch wise, may mate and tighten but with little thread engagement. In over 50 years I have never encountered a drain plug that kept loosening. shruggy

Please let us know, that could solve a problem in a different way than I would have thought of work luck

Depending on a number of variables like where the pan and its parts originated from you may have a tolerance stack up issue or poor QC.
I would suggest trying a longer GOOD QUALITY 1/2-20 bolt to see how snug or loose it is in the pan threads. If it's too loose you could go to an oversize plug to resolve the issue. I don't like suggesting that but something is not right and it needs to be identified and remedied. beer

Could be metric threads in the pan or plug, sometimes the two sizes are real close. Just had that problem replacing blade bolts on my finish mower. Thought they were 5/8 “ course but they were 16 mm. If it wasn’t for the nut and bolt guides on top of the bolt cabinet I wouldn’t have noticed the difference.

iagree it could be either the plug itself or the threads in the pan or possibly both
I have run into this a few times as well along with other QC issues.
TO the OP: FYI 20 TPI is real close to 1.25mm TPI which is 20.32 TPI.

A 12mm bolt is about .472 and a 12.5mm is .492. the 12.5 is a bit uncommon but available in a bolt. Not sure on the drain plug though.
