www.motortrend.com/news/next-gen-dodge-charger-challenger-hellcat-v8/amp/"Our sources tell us that a brand-new generation of V-8-powered, rear-wheel-drive muscle machines are coming, and coming soon. Here you thought Dodge was going fully EV, and turning its back on the burning of gasoline. Not yet, bro!"

As the new Mustang announced it will keep the V8, Dodge was kinda up against the wall. Not sure how well the Charger and Challenger sell elsewhere, but around me in Southern MD, there are lots, and I mean lots of them. Despite what the "experts" think, folks like and want V8's. As a sideline, had to buy the wife a newer Camry on Monday. Was I surprised when both the salesman(26) and finance guy(late 20's) told me they both owned and love their stick shift cars. We got talking about auto tech and they both came out and said 1/2 the folks don't want or need the tech the manufactures and Car and Driver are raving about. Most folks like to hook their phone up or play their own tunes but the rest of it is just junk that will break. These guys were 20 somethings. My oldest is 21 and has often said the same. I assumed it was due to my influence but apparently a change may be happening. I have been watching videos on the 2.5 2020 camry engine though. Wow, is that thing extremely high tech. VVT, cooling is controled in the engine and routed where it is needed, electric water pump that is computer controlled, Port and direct injection, vacuum pump for PB, oil pump can be controlled by the computer. Unreal.

I hope the V8 will be available in Charger/Challenger without having to step up to the SRT line! Hopefully in R/T and Police Package cars, but I'm skeptical.
Facts are stubborn things.

Buddy of mine (& WELL-KNOWN in the Mopar world) retired from Chrysler at the end of 2021 because he said ALL engineering was switching over to EV's at the end of 2021 - he said he didn't want ANY part of it. He said they have one real bad enemy: fire. He told me if you have an EV, don't park it in your garage or near your house!

If the supply chain can’t meet their demand, the old Hemi may have some life left.

Toyota is one car company that is not putting all their eggs in one basket and have said time and again that our infrastructure will not support this mass change. Then there is the issue of materials and who owns them. They have cited many other problems going this far this fast, but those are the big two up front. " The automaker noted issues with the materials required to produce batteries en masse as a potential sticking point in the further uptake of electric vehicles. Specific emphasis was placed on the lifecycle emissions output of such mining and production operations. Chief Technology Officer Masahiko Maeda also pointed out current market realities, saying "Some people love battery-electric vehicles but others don't see the current technologies as convenient." www.thedrive.com/news/41127/toyota-still-wont-go-all-in-on-electric-cars

Oh well, I know I'm being a spoiled sport, and that the EV's make more power, but I hope sales plummet on Charger/Challenger if only EV.

Come on Man. That's an easy fix. What you need is solar panels on ya roof and or yard. A battery back up, and NG generator. Really where I am heading now that I have a new roof in the next few years. Plus I still have my super cool 12 speed bike I bout in 89. Or I could proberly buy a Hemi car instead. All kids in aside I really am going solar with battery back up. And will convert my present gen to NG. I wonder why compressed NG never came further. Looked to be a thi.g 20 25 years ago in some states Texas and La had places and you coukd get cars factory tgst way and have a pump at home. They burn off lots of NG in oil production as were short on storage or at least used to

Agreed. Why not a mix of gas, EV, and let the consumer choose. And the automotive engineers have made huge strides in reducing emissions all while increasing performance and mpg from the internal combustion engine. But still outrageous CAFE requirements that basically will condemn the ICE and mandate what the public buys.
Facts are stubborn things.

Also not trying to turn this political, but we went through something similar before the "gas shortage of 74".
All the American car companies thought gas was going to stay the same forever, and started building cars without concerns about what the people wanted. When the gas crunch happened, no American car companies were building cars the people wanted, except Toyota.
We are at that point again, but with EVs. Most of the new car world is jumping on the EV band wagon and soon all the car companies will be building cars no one wants or will be able to use, except Toyota, and probably the car companies in Russia.
Guess that is what happens when all the car companies have leadership that got their education from the same sources, leadership that can't think for themselves. Most of the world is being lead by the people with the same education and its showing.

For what its worth the CEO of Stellantis is saying the same thing as Toyota I was going to point that out too. Didn't know Toyota was also saying it.
