I’ve never had any in my hands, but my understanding is it’s quite a bit of work to make them “legal”.

Ports are too big, guides are the wrong diameter, etc.

part number is approved by nhra with a hp/weight factor penalty

It still has to comply with all the same measurements as the OE heads.

Chamber volume, runner volumes, valve stem diameters, valve head diameters.

Some folks are using OE parts rather than carry the weight penalty. That late model combo should not be a problem finding usable iron heads.

Go to the races and make friends, ask questions. Plenty of BB Mopar class guys in D1.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

yep, familiar with nhraracer.com,right now running in super/street to shake down chassis, with 383, no fuel check or scales, got them cheap, not sure what I'll use, have a couple of sets of 452's, pistons came in today, most likely next season, maybe t/tune November, shop said it would be nice to have a new head with the valves nice and high

I’d suggest getting the runner volumes checked before going too far.
They’re likely already larger than the limit.

My understanding is the valve guides are 11/32” instead of the required 3/8”.
That’s easy enough to measure.

From what I saw they’re made like the 64-66 head (closed chamber small ex valve) and after they’re made the same as the later head you still lose compression because they’re aluminum. The advantage is you’re able to move stuff around a little for better flow. But $$$ better left for the big dogs imo.

The last write-ups or videos I've seen on a couple of BBM Stockers showed OEM iron heads. Anybody know of any using the Edelbrock NHRA head?

I don’t know if he’s currently using them, but I’m pretty sure Larry Hill runs/ran them in his 440-6 70 Cuda.

I also think Doug Duell used them in his 69 cuda(no hp penalty with them on that combo).

I'd talk to Don Little or Steve Wann in Modesto, CA. That would be a good place to start for info.

I’d be interested in seeing pics of what you have.

My old catalog shows them sold as bare heads only.

In the instruction sheet:
Quote
60917 is a NHRA Legal (Stock/Super Stock) version of 60919. All of these cylinder heads feature 210cc intake ports and 70cc exhaust ports.

As I mentioned previously....... get out the burette.
The max legal runner volume for them is 203/64.

Found this earlier on ClassRacer: https://classracer.com/classforum/showthread.php?t=82319

Looks like if the OP decides he doesn't want them after all, he should contact Larry Hill since LH posted he's looking for a set at the end of that thread.
