Any way to bring these back from the dead ?

Can't add more acid, they are sealed.

lead acid or gel type ?
there is a guy on the u-tube that claims to be able to bring back any battery ever made, but i'm not giving him $40.00 [or whatever he wants] to find out how.

Here is what I was told to do... Take a Lead Acid battery and run jumper cables from the LA to the Optima (pos to pos) and (neg to neg) then put a battery charger on the LA battery.

Just hook up the batteries like you're trying to jump the dead one. Then charge the good battery. Be sure the polarity is correct

The resistance in a AGM battery is so low that the charger doesn't see a load. Make sure you start with a fully charged LA battery...

OK I have it hooked up now, the lead battery was maybe a bit low, not too bad.
I have a little Optima Digital 400 charger.

Well that was very good. I see I'm doing it wrong, but now I have a better idea.

Thanks for that
Wish i had known of this before trading in a 'dead' 15 yr. old red Optima core for a new Optima last year. I would have bought the new Optima anyway, but could have given them a different core. Would have been worth a try to recharge it.

Haven't watched the vid yet, but I have an OLD Optima that's been sitting around for 10+ years. I also have a new one I purchased w/in the last year to replace it, since I ASSumed the old one was nothing but scrap now.

Have done this before, myself. It works.

The video is good. They recover a 20 year old Optima by using another battery as a storage cell. The trick requires a battery charger with a 10 amp setting. Trickle charger doesn't work and neither does the super blast type of charger.

The Ctek chargers do a really good job on the agm's, or any lead acid battery for that matter. I bought a special agm charger and it often will charge an agm for about and hour, then say bad battery on the readout.I put the Ctek on it overnight on the recond setting, and the battery is back to life the next day.

I've been working on this one Optima for a couple days now. It was getting a bit warm during charging.
The Schumacher charger never did reach 10 amps charging, this is with a another good battery in parallel.
It went from about 4 amps to 7 amps. This evening when I unhooked everything, the Optima read 10 volts.
I'm going to check voltage in the morning to see if it drops. The charger was getting pretty warm too.
I'm going to keep going to see if I can get the Optima up to 12.7 volts. I don't want to keep the charger on
in the garage overnight unattended, for safety. The system does appear to be working though, albeit slow.

Next time you have it charging and it gets warm feel all the cylinders, if one is cold then you likely won't get it over 10.5v or so due to a dead cell.

i bought two of the X3 brand batteries, neither one would hold a charge while setting during the winter, I used their special charger also, but they didn't hold up well while sitting whiney That dang super expensive specail charger work once and quit rant puke down
I'll try using another standard battery in parallel to see if they will respond and take a charge that way luck
I'll post my results on here next week luck
