So, these followed me home. Or rather, a friend dropped them off here at my shop for a while. Both are rough, the green car is a 383 manual trans 8 3/4 and surprisingly runs. The blue car has NO tags, paperwork, stickers, build sheet... nada. Factory manual trans, with what looks like a correct Dana in the rear. The K-frame coin, to me, says 90, which my book says is 318/383. The partial VIN is on the rad support, and is 0A195374. The previous owner thought the K was off the car at one time, and it looks like it was, but could have been for repairs/painting/who knows, o might be from a totally different car. We do know these have been sitting in a barn for the past two-plus decades.

Anyway, can any of the numbers guys here chime in with their thoughts as to what it MAY have been, based on the partial VIN?

As always, my many thanks!

Well the "A" is for Lynch Road assembly plant for a start. And I thought only the 440 and Hemi got a Dana and a 383 4-speed would have had an 8-3/4 rear even with an "axle package" like a 4.10 unless that changed in '70 versus '69?? Would anything but a Hemi or convertible have "torque boxes" ? maybe take a look? Just throwing things out there.

Mike

Is that a 26" radiator support opening?

late January "scheduled" Plymouth B-body:

RM23?0A195374 - Road Runner
RH23?0A195374 - Satellite
RP23?0A195374 - Sport Satellite
RS23?0A195374 - GTX

looks like a 22" radiator opening, which wouldn't co-exist on a DANA60 equipped car

dates on K-frame and/or DANA?
is the dash frame in the car? "rallye" or "sweep"?

Is there anything left in the interior? Build sheets could be found under the carpet and in the front/rear seats.

Thanks, guys, for the help!

So, looking at this closer, it has the smaller radiator opening, not one for a 26" radiator. No skid plate, no torque boxes, and the rear springs are stock-style (non-SS). There is a rear seat with the car, but there's no sheet, the glove box is missing, and little remains of the interior, including carpeting, headliner, and the gauge cluster. I'll clean the housing for numbers on the Dana Monday. Why it has a Dana, no idea but someone most likely added it, although there are no performance mods (better springs, tied frame, no evidence of even the obligatory 'slapper bars.') So, we're thinking it's just a 383 car with a swapped-in Dana from way back when these were in junk yards.

The green 383 car, though, has the 26" radiator opening and SS-style rear springs.

Back in the day if I saw a performance part I would buy it and bolt it onto whatever I had.

If I would have seen a dana in the junkyard it would be behind my /6 right now.

If you don't have a full vin it very well could have been a Satellite when it rolled off the line.

I would like it to build. No pedigree means no worries what you do to customize it.

THIS!

Sometime in the late 70s very early 80's, out for a Sunday afternoon ride around I found what I thought was a wrecked 69 Super Bee, had a 383 in it, hit on the left front, definitely repairable now, but at the time I thought, meh, parts car for something.
It was behind a small gas station, they just wanted it gone, I think I paid $100 for it, had a set of headers and a smashed 6pak hood. After towing it home, and putting it out back it just sat. I looked under it, saw a Dana, but, you know, no use for it then.

A guy I knew only slightly (talking about you Ricky Roberts) had a decent 69 Coronet ht, 318 car, and managed to tear up the stock rear, in casual conversation I said I had a 69 Super Bee, parts car. Long story short, sold him the whole car for $125, he came and got it, said he would pay, never did.

Years later, ran into the original owner of the car, quite by accident, mentioned that car, he told me the life story of the car, knew it as it progressed down hill, and after being wrecked and abandoned lost track of it, after all, it was just another muscle car, they would be around forever.

Allen was the original owner of that red A12 sold new at Ray Dodge Motors, Randolph Vt ... and I am pretty sure Ricky was the last (unpaid for) owner

It takes gasoline to interest me.

What does the rear tail lights (if it has them) look like? Are the a chrome housing that goes all the way around or does it have a "splitter" in the middle that makes each side look like two?
