has anyone swapped out the original belts in a 69 B body to aftermarket 3 point belts ?
if so, whose kit did you use ?
this question applies to my charger, and it's original shoulder belts.
can the aftermarket belts use the original attachment point in the roof panel ?
TIA to all who can help. bow

We have aftermarkets in our 70, no problem.
Trying to think of the maker, but well known.

they work fine and no problem on the install.

Looked up my records and bought from XV Racing, but they are into carbon fiber stuff now.
Plenty of hits on the net though.

What about mid 70's A or B body belts ??? Pretty sure you can mount them in same location as the original belts in 69 . . . was kinda thinking about doing that on my 70 Sport Satellite . . . .

i had a similar thought, although using belts from a newer sedan of ???? make or model.
my main concern was if the roof mounting structure was strong enough to use inertia type belt assemblies like those found on new[er] vehicles.
also, if the belts are a little longer or shorter than the factory 69 belts are, how much can a guy get away with in that situation ?

I have installed a lot of "modern" seat belts into old cars and trucks.

Before I ever installed that 1st set, I looking into a lot of the upper belt bold mounting positions in a lot of cars, including early production shoulder harness cars. There isn't much difference between how the early shoulder harness mounting hole brackets were constructed then there is with the way the modern hole brackets are designed. I have never been concerned mounting modern belts into the older mounting locations, as log as the bolt used fit the modern bolt holes for the belts used.

Modern SUVs and mini vans have pretty long belt systems, but sometimes the lower outer retract mechanism is also larger and doesn't fit into the older cars very well if that lower mounting position was inset into the body. Modern aftermarket belt systems are more universal and may be easier to mount. Buy DOT approved belts.

Before finding an original set for my e-body, I considered getting a 3 point set from these guys.

I bought a set, maybe from seatbelts.com. I’d have to look in the box. I got them, but pussed out on installing in my all original 69 car. They attach to the factory mounting point. I had the factory shoulder belts in my last rr and really miss them. Just felt better, even if they’d rip right out of the roof in a hit I still like them.

I want my fair share
