Made a deal today on a 1948 Federal 16M2 truck cab today. Going to pick it up Thursday. Yea I know it’s not a MOPAR but it’s a rare Vehical and it will probably end up with a MOPAR drive train. Hopefully a Gen III Hemi.

instead of a gen3 hemi, how bout a cummins turbo diesel ?
in my opinion, that would fit that style of truck better.

Pictures???? We NEED to see pictures of this truck cab. Is it just a cab, or did you get more parts?

It’s just the cab. So I’ll have to build a chassis to put it on. Will probably go with a Speedway G- Comp front suspension and a triangular rear with coil overs. Pictures will be coming once I get the cab and get started. I plan to document the build like I did when I built my 55 Gen III hemi powered Dodge pickup back in 2013.

Bree is the chassis I built for it. And the bed. Also the hood, fenders and radiator shell are all hand formed.

The front suspension is a Speedway Motor G Comp universal unit. The rear is a triangulated with coil over. I used a kit designed for a mid 30s Ford. The same set up on my 55 Gen lll powered pickup. 17 inch tires front and rear. Y’all aren’t going to like this, but I went with a SBC with a 700R4 for power. A friend offered me a fresh rebuilt sbc short block for $300. Since the plan is to sell it when it’s finished I figured why not. It’s also easier to sell with the sbc. The rear end is a Ford 8.8. Here are a few more shots. I’m not at home now but will post more when I get back next week.

Getting close. Almost done with the wiring. Fabricated the headlight brackets this afternoon.
