The Dad of a long-time buddy of mine ran a Dodge & Plymouth dealership in NY.
He used to tell stories of the weird stuff they'd get at the end of a model year, and bizarre color combos was one oddity.
Some of the cars would also come with added moldings & such, like Chrysler was trying to use stuff up.
The time period was 60s & 70s.

Saw a 69 Dart Swinger at the Mopar Nats decades ago that was Q5 turquoise with a blue interior... up

The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

turquoise is a shade of blue/green - some might see it more blue & some may see it more green laugh2 I don't think any of the blue or green interiors work well with it

black & white are the only recommended interiors with Q5 a-bodies (silver & tan are also acceptable in Q5 b-bodies)

Maybe more disgusting than odd, I had an orangish/red 77 D150 that had light blue door panels, dash and seat. It was ordered as a municipal vehicle, but never delivered. I bought it off the original owner in 1993 with 20k miles on it. Even the interior sheetmetal was that awful orange/red color, so it wasn't a repaint and I seriously doubt the guy swapped all the interior bits on it.

When on the line back at Ford in 72 or 3, one of the jobs I had was putting all the seat belts in the L side of the car. 56 cars an jour meant one had to hustle. I saw a Pink Pinto hatch coming and thought has to be a black or white interior either of which took black seat belts.
So I grabbed a set a black belts before the car got to me thinking I'd save a bit of time. WRONG!!! When the car hit my location it had an Avocado green interior puke spank beer

I remember that story being told in here. On a related note, Dad tried to order a Bonneville Station wagon with 421, 4 speed wide ratio and bucket seats, it was an available combination. Dealer refused to accept the order rightly figuring if Dad refused it they'd have an unsalable white elephant on their hands. Manual transmission alone even back then was not a popular thing outside of hot street cars.

I suppose they'd have accepted the order if he paid upfront and accepted the car no matter how it'd been built, that sort of thing happened, not every option was always available throughout the model year.

I saw a '77 Firebird Esprit at a car show long time ago. Owner said it was all original... and it had the pontiac 5 spoke ralley wheels.....the car was painted yellow, and the interior was crushed velour... in all RED!! The car looked like an advertisement for a ketchup and mustard commercial. eek laugh2

My Dad's '66 Imperial was light yellow with green interior. As a kid I thought it looked great. Dad hated it so much he painted the car dark green.

In 2007, I tried to order a then-new Mustang GT, manual trans in Legendary Lime with tan cloth interior which was 100% a valid combination. Dealer told me the same thing - if I don't buy it, they'd have an albatross on the lot. Wound up buying a groovy little Hyundai Tiburon which I still have.

And then in 2016, when I went Mustang shopping again.... Wound up going to the big city since the combo I wanted didn't exist - Deep Impact Blue, Cloth Guts, 6spd, GT Base.... there were only TWO similar in all of North America - one in Winnipeg with Recaro's which I didn't want and one in Tennessee with an automatic. This time, they placed my order through the factory without a second thought. They even had 16-other Mustangs on the lot .... but not a single blue one. I think that was my saving grace. Had there been something blue on the lot.... they probably would have steered me toward that.

Summer of 1974 I was hired for a summer job as a security guard at the Chrysler 2-plant complex in St. Louis. The guard staff was supplied a couple of vehicles to use to make their rounds of the complex.
We wound up with a mistake from the car plant. A 74 Satellite Sebring, maroon with a green interior.
