I have a couple of gallons of old gas that I syphoned out of a car I let sit for a couple years due to a dead in tank pump. Probably more after I drop the tank. What is the best way to dispose of a few gallons? I don't really trust it to use in lawn equipment.

Bring a gallon at a time and when almost empty add it to the tank of your driver then top it off with fresh fuel. Do it all the time.

As long as there is no water in it or rust.

See if your town has a hazardous waste drop off center.

If you're rural, light your burn barrel with it. Just but be careful of your ignition technique!

Great for weeds in the driveway or to mix with old motor oil to brush on exposed wood to keep it solid.

It's pretty effective on weeds and fire ants, or so I've heard........

The landfill near me takes old gas. Maybe check your area for disposal.

If you burn it use a big open container with a long fuse, it goes up fast. or spray on weeds

Mix it in with some of your waste engine oil after changing it, 1 gallon to 4 gallons in a 5-gallon oil can
Take it to your local oil recycler and get paid

There's a couple of shops near me that heat their buildings with waste oil during the winter. I bring them all of my used oil and they take old gas as well. Maybe someone near you has a similar setup and could use it to heat their shop.

That would be bon fire starter for me. Week or so and it would be gone

Hypothetically,.if I sprayed the weeds in the gravel drive that goes back to my shop how long would it smell and be flammable? Would hot headers catch it on fire hours or days later? Would neighbors smell it and call police or fire?

If your neighbors are that close there's a good chance you have a waste collection point nearby.

Old Coleman brand name camping stoves
can safely burn up unleaded gasoline in a legal way.

Coleman made a little funnel with a built in filter to fill their stove fuel tank.

If you do this regularly
adding an ounce of Chevron Techron or Regane gasoline fuel injection additive
to the stove fuel tank will help keep the burner holes free of carbon build up.

There are gasoline/oxygen steel cutting torches too.

What I don't use in this way I give to my brother in law for the same purpose.

Never had a neighbor call anyone and the smell will dissipate in a matter of 5 or 10 minutes if it doesn't form a puddle. Drove over it after a few minutes while I could still smell it and no problems.

If you have neighbors that are that picky you need new neighbors. LOL

I had a 1/2 tank of who knows how old of gas in a /6 truck I bought a couple of years ago, I just let it run out in the gravel drive.

Just this past week I dragged home a rotted out 91 Dakota with a supposed dead fuel pump. I parted it out, and scrapped it. Including cutting the tank straps and saving a whole tank of gas. I siphoned off what I could then poured the last gallon or so out, into one of my 5 gallon cans/ filled my mowers, filled the wife's Durango, and still have about 10 gallons of it left. At $5 a gallon it won't go to waste.
Several years ago I dragged home a 76 Aspen from several states away.

Now that gas was way too rancid to consider trying to burn.
As was the gas left in the tank I found in the junkyard for my son's truck, I poured that out in the gravel and smelled that for over a week.
Any gas not as rancid as those 2 or full of water gets burned in another vehicle whether a gallon or 2 at a time diluted with a fresh fill, or to completely top off one of our drivers
Good tip on additives to the Coleman stoves. I'm up to about 18 lanterns now and about 8 Coleman stoves. I had a dozen lanterns lit yesterday on the bed of my truck yesterday, I always have 3 or 4 stashed in the Pop up at any given time.

Actually I have great neighbors who have never complained about anything and I want to keep it that way.

I have 6 year old cali oat pisss in my cuda tank that's going to need to be drained to. I think I know what I'm going to do with it.
