Dear Maple Grove Racers,
Many of you are currently aware but for those who are not, there is a traction compound shortage. As the weeks progress, the shortage is becoming a very real issue for MGR. With that being said we are trying to be as proactive as possible by reevaluating upcoming events. The remaining Sunoco Race Fuels ET Series races will now be contested 1/8th mile for all classes. All other events such as Chevy Showdown, Geezers, etc. will remain 1/4 mile at this time. The silver lining of this situation is that racers for Super and Pro can use the opportunity to prepare for Bracket Finals. Which will be here at Maple Grove Raceway, September 23-25. We understand this is not the ideal situation but we want to keep racing as planned. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Regards,
Maple Grove Raceway Management

Flip that used to be on Street Outlaws made and sold traction compound.

One of our local guys does too. He makes Devil's Glue. Apparently he can't get one of the components to make his product either.

I heard this also. Only a few tracks were proactive and bought some ahead. Birdtracker

I would make my own.....We did it for RC racing....Scale it up a bit. Plenty of people make the compounds....Brand it when it works and sell it at the track.

Years ago, a local car was sponsored by a A&W hamburger joint. They used to use root beer syrup for the dry hop after the burn out. That was really before tracks used glue, so everybody used something right after the burn out. I thought it was just a gimmick, as sometimes the guy putting down the syrup, would take a swig. But I guess it really did work.

Wow, now we can race like it was in the old days, no prep

A few weeks ago at National Trail I never personally saw any spray. The track looked good but was about as sticky as old masking tape. I'm working on the set-up right now to hook with less prep.

Time to bring back the magic gold dust - rosin in powder form - little of that dusted on the track then dragged in worked good - most tracks around here seem to spray to the 60' once a night - maybe

Wasn't Clorox bleach used as traction enhancer back in the 1970s, pour it in front of the tires and do a burn out scope

Gold dust is EXTREMELY expensive. IMO many tracks over "overprepped" these days. But cars keep getting faster. The radial stuff does not help the current issue for sure.
