I posted back in March that I was looking for a newer truck to replace my 97 Ram 2500. I bought a 2012 Ram 2500. So far so good. I have never driven anything newer than the 97 what a difference. The 5.7 seems to have plenty of power. I only pulled a short distance so far , but it did well. I'm wanting to put dual exhaust on it for a better sound and maybe help fuel mileage. Any suggestions? Thanks Mike

I would go with a Vararam intake before exhaust upgrades, they sound great and make power. The one thing about being a 2500 though is it don't seal against the hood real good like it does on a 1500 so you need to make some foam wedges to seal it up (it needs to be sealed to function properly).

Not sure what a Vararam intake is?

It forces more air into the engine the faster you are driving and is not silenced. I tried one on my 6.4 SRT8 in my 2011 1/2 ton and did some careful MPG calculations and counted down shifts at a certain speed over a 200 mile round trip I frequently make and it dramatically reduced downshifts and improved MPG, it felt much stronger at passing speeds and sounded great. Guys are claiming nearly 1/2 second improvements in 1/4 mile times with time slips to back it up.

I googled it last night. It looks like a worth while investment. Thanks for the tip
