How much pressure is on a anti roll or sway bar on a 4 link rear end set up. Has anyone broke brackets or bolt or arms anything like that ?? Thanks

I don't know how much pressure they have. I don't know anyone that has broke anything. I'm not smart enough to know how they work, but they work amazingly well. The biggest ones look the sexiest, but they're expensive.

I have one on my Challenger. There is not enough pressure to break brackets or anything during launches in most cases.

I broke the arms off the end of the tube on my old demon but, that happened on the street. No where for rear end to go when driving over irregular surfaces. Never broke them at the strip.

Yeah I can see busting stuff on the street, especially with a ladder bar car. Railroad tracks or steep driveways can bust stuff. There shouldn't be more than a few hundred pounds of force on the anti-sway bar ends at the track. The linkage doesn't have to be very big to handle a couple hundred pounds. 1/4-20 bolts will handle that.

should one slightly groove the bushings to ensure the grease goes 360 degrees around the bushing ?

It isn't a high load situation or a high wear application. The bar is barely going to move when you go down the track.

I made this bar out of mild steel 13/8 x . 125 wall. Twisted it in the first hit. 11.17 starting line ratio, 860 hp,, 4.56 gears and 33x15x15 slicks. I went to 1 3/4 x .134 wall tube, no problem. It is all about leverage and torque. Combine too much of both, and anything can bend or break.

Just out of interest, Super Stock guys aren't allowed to run aftermarket ARB's so usually run the H/D stock anti sway stuff on the rear. They don't have any issues, even when using them in conjunction with Caltrac bars, which induce a lot of rise and axle rotation. twocents

I broke the bar on my anti roll due to it being a bit small on dia... I replaced it with a larger bar
and its been perfect since.... like Greg said.. add enough torque and things can break.. you have
very little load sitting at the line until you hit the pedal

Shouldn't be any preload or pressure on an anti roll bar in a 4 link setup if it is right. If anything is breaking might be something else wrong.

Preload with the 4 link and set the anti roll to be zero preload at race weight with driver in car. twocents

This is close to how mine is set up. With zero preload, I wound my right-hand side down two turns, which made a huge difference to how flat the car now launches.

Yes, this is how we sent mine up with me in the car, at race weight, with both bottles in the trunk and all my gear in my lap as my buddies adjust the heims until all bolts slip in and out of the holes so everything is with no preload. Car leaves hard, straight and level every time.

This picture shows my dart before anti roll install, 30 inch ladderbars. At one point the settings were so far out of whack it would seperate on the left rear violently, run out of shock travel and pull the left slick clean up off the track! It happened when the front mount was close to the neutral line. It says a lot about how flexible ladderbars can be, and how much an anti roll is needed in SOME situations.
